Claws & Paws Rescue, Inc. is located in (Marion Co.) Buena Vista, GA. We are a private rescue .We are not open to the public unlike your typical idea of an animal shelter in major cities. Our rescue is all volunteer, no kill & a 501 (c) 3 non profit rescue. Most of these animals are owner surrendered, military moving, abandoned, deployment etc. Occasionally Peggy will visit an animal control(s) when room is available..
100% of ALL donations go directly into these animals. With the current economic crisis, We are in need for monetary donations it doesn't matter if it is large or small it all counts. Concrete floors were poured in dog runs in late 2009. We are working on paying off that loan. Your change counts! If you have any fund raising ideas like a carwash, please ask Peggy so she can render support. Prior to adoption, All of our animals are spayed or neutered, test negative for canine heartworms or feline leukemia ,up to date on age appropriate shots, rabies(if old enough), microchipping, plus you have the choice of enrolling for 30 days FREE gift pet insurance & much more. They also get other medical treatment, if needed.( ie dental, heartworms & surgery etc.to name a few) at no cost to you.
We do not put down animals to make room for new ones. We have several who have been with us since they were pups or kittens and are now adults. We even have a few seniors. If you can't adopt at this time, please consider a SPONSORING ME links near pics, this helps meet the needs of the pets in this shelter until the forever family comes their way.

Claws and Paws Rescue, Inc. of Marion County GA located in Buena Vista, GA was formed & incorporated on Dec. 20,2005 thus becoming a 501 (c) 3 non profit organization. Prior to that there was no form of animal control or any shelter in this county. Claws & Paws was instrumental in Marion Co creating animal control ordinances. PRESENT
Claw & Paws Rescue has adopted a no kill policy. We do not euthanize animals as a means of population control or to make room for more pets. Instead, we focus on spay/neuter efforts to reduce the pet overpopulation
We are a 501 (c) 3 non-profit & all volunteers. This means 100% of all donations go directly into caring for these animals. FUTURE
Our ultimate goal is to have no homeless dogs or cats every where. With time and proper education in our schools and community on spay and neutering, our citizens can learn how to be responsible pet owners,thus preventing an overpopulation of unwanted animals. More involvement in volunteering of the members of this county. getting involved in therapy dog training so we can visit nursing homes, schools& library etc.
Adopting a friend
Prior to adoption, All of our animals are spayed or neutered ,up to date on age appropriate shots, feline or heartworm test (neg) & multiple dewormings,rabies(if old enough), microchipping, plus 30 days FREE gift Shelter Care pet insurance & more. If needed, they also get other medical treatment, ( ie dental, heartworms,weight gain & surgeries plus more etc.) Prices range from $100 up to $400, Smaller dogs,purebreeds, puppies & kittens cost more because they are in high demand and their adoption helps take care of those that are not adopted as quickly.
PetSmart offers a bag of Purina goodies for each adoption we do there. On adopt-a-thon weekends, they give away even more. Adoptions are mostly done at PetSmart at 1591 Bradley Park Dr in Columbus, GA. We are there every Saturday & Sunday from noon until 5pm and also some holidays. We are almost an hour drive to Columbus. Only Peggy Woolam can give tours of the shelter, You MUST contact her first. On the weekends, she is at PetSmart in Columbus.
THE CLAWS & PAWS LOCATION IN BUENA VISTA IS CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC. You can only visit by appt only with Peggy herself. ~~~Please call ahead before you come to see us.~~~WAIT until someone comes out to your vehicle.~~~~ DO NOT walk around the property for the safety of yourself and our pets. Thank you for your understanding.

WE ARE NOT A TYPICAL BRICK & MORTAR SHELTER. IT'S RUN OUTSIDE OF A PRIVATE HOME SO PLEASE BE RESPECTFUL OF HOURS WHEN YOU CALL. There is no receptionist just Peggy and even she has another job besides the rescue. She runs an 8 house chicken farm for Tyson.
