We even have seniors. If you can't adopt at this time, please consider a SPONSORING A PET to help meet the needs of the pets in this shelter. Thanks, Claws & Paws appreciates your support.

Who We Are

PAST Claws and Paws Rescue, Inc. of Marion County GA located in Buena Vista, GA was formed and incorporated on December 20th, 2005. Prior to that there was no form of animal control or any shelter in this county. Claws & Paws was instrumental in Marion Co creating animal control ordinances. PRESENT Claw and Paws has adopted a no kill policy. We do not euthanize animals as a means of population control or to make room for more pets. Instead, we focus on spay/neuter efforts to reduce the pet overpopulation We are non-profit & all volunteers. We have no paid staff. This means 100% of all donations go directly into caring for these animals. If you would like to SPONSOR A PET, make a regular monthly donation or make one large donations for a tax deductible purposes , Everyone here including the animals would greatly appreciate it. click on the Sponsor a pet link or contact Peggy..> FUTURE Our ultimate goal is to have no homeless dogs or cats. With time and proper education in our schools and community on spay and neutering, our citizens can learn how to be responsible pet owners, thus preventing an overpopulation of unwanted animals. More involvement in volunteering of the members of this county. getting involved in therapy dog training so we can visit nursing homes, schools, library etc.

Adopting a friend

Prior to adoptions all of our pets are spayed/ neutered, up to date on shots ( appropriate to age), feline or heartworm test (neg), & multiple deworming. Some need more medical attention (ie skin conditions, nutrition, heartworms, surgeries, dental & more etc.) but you do not absorb that in the adoption fee. Dogs & now cats are being microchipped. You also receive one month free insurance on your pet you adopt. PetSmart has a booklet of coupons as well. Adoptions are mostly done at PetSmart at 1591 Bradley Park Dr in Columbus, GA. We are there every Saturday & Sunday from noonish until 5pm?. also some holidays. We are almost an hour drive to Columbus. Only Peggy Woolam will be given tours of the shelter. Wait until someone comes out to your vehicle. Do not walk around the property for the safety of yourself and our pets. I have included mapquest directions to PetSmart. Payments can be made in the form of cash, debit or credit. We no longer accept checks. WE ARE NOT A TYPICAL BRICK & MORTAR SHELTER.
