Our Featured Pets...

Brandon may look a little funny, but he is total sweetness and a wonderful dog. He loves to cudddle on the couch (especially when there's thunder) and he gets along great with other dogs and cats. We think he would be happiest with another dog buddy to hang out with, but he could be a solo dog as well.
Pepper The Beagle

Oh what a sweet, tiny beagle!! Pepper's best friend Ginger was adopted some time ago and Pepper has been waiting for her chance at a forever home. She is 16 pounds and is very sweet and loves to curl up next to you on the couch.

Pepper's ideal home would be laid back with regular walks and some toys. She's got plenty of life left in her and would be a great companion for an active retiree. She has had her teeth cleaned and our vet says she is in tip-top health.

Who We Are

Atlanta Beagle Rescue, Inc. is a licensed Georgia rescue. We are a small group of dedicated beagle lovers doing our best to match fabulous dogs with fabulous homes. We like to think of ourselves as more of a match-making service than a rescue, because we like people too! We all have day jobs so this is a part-time labor of love. We never take in more dogs than we can handle so we are never in rescue "crisis" mode.

Adopting a friend

Please fill out our online adoption form if you are even remotely interested in a dog. We work full-time jobs that are not beagle rescue so our priority in responding to emails goes to completed applications. Note: there are several required fields on the form and if they are not filled in you may get an error on submittal.

Our non-refundable adoption fee is $200 (exceptions may apply). All dogs are spayed/neutered, dewormed, current on all vaccines, heartworm negative, have their teeth cleaned if they need it, and microchipped. We frequently spend the time and money to run bloodwork to check for thyroid issues if our vet feels it is warranted. All senior dogs (generally over 8-10 years) get a full senior blood panel work up as standard procedure. We foster all dogs for at least two weeks as well to make a solid assessment of behavior, personality and general health. We want our new beagle owners to have a dog that is ready to go "out of the box".

Our policy is "first approved, first adopted". Once you are approved we will set up a time for you to meet the dog. We do this to minimize stress on the dogs, and us. We all have full-time jobs and want to meet with people who are serious about adopting from us, not "casual lookers".

We get a pretty high volume of inquiries for some beagles and this is why we stress the importance of filling out the online application ASAP.

Surrendering an animal

We have no room for owner surrenders.

Our foster home space is reserved for dogs from shelters and other critical situations. If you need to find a new home for your beagle please email surrender@atlantabeaglerescue.org. You will receive an auto-reply email. Please read carefully and fill in all the information and don't forget to get us good quality photos. The better the photos the more looks your dog will get on our site. We require a donation for this service due to the volume of requests we get and the time we spend on listings and application checking. Please know that we very carefully screen our adopters and we want your dog to find as good a new home as any of the dogs we rescue from shelters.

Fostering

We are actively seeking foster homes near some of the shelters we can pull from, and particularly some more inside the perimeter. If you live outside the perimeter and are interested in fostering, please check with your vet or a vet near by and see if they do reduced rescue rates. If there's a low-cost spay/neuter clinic nearby even better! We use East Atlanta Animal Clinic and Lifeline as our primary vets at the moment. If we have foster homes OTP we will need vets near them who will run a small tab or give us good discounted rates. Otherwise foster homes need to be flexible enough to drive into the city to take care of vet appointments.
