Dawson County Humane Society of Dawsonville, Georgia

Our Adoptable Pet List

Our Goals

Our animal shelter provides a safe haven for the strays and unwanted animals of Dawson County.

Goal #1 - Provide Homes

Dawson County Humane Society intends to reunite lost pets with their original owners. The national average is for shelters to give owners only 3 days before their pets may be placed for adoption. Dawson County Humane Society has increased that period to 5 days that include one weekend so that working people have a better opportunity to identify their pets before someone else can adopt them.

Dawson County Humane Society hopes to find homes for every dog and cat found suitable for adoption. Foster care is an essential part of that dream.

Goal #2 - Aggressive Spay/Neuter Plans

Dawson County Humane Society will have all animals spayed/neutered before being placed in their new forever homes.

Goal #3 - Teach Responsible Pet Ownership

Dawson County Humane Society has an education program whereby volunteers read to elementary students in the county. Our belief is that through education, we can make a difference in the lives of animals. Our education program includes teaching the importance of spaying/neutering, humane treatment of animals, and responsible pet ownership.
