We are currently treating several heartworm positive dogs. Zita (means Little Girl) is a beautiful blue merle collie. She came to us out of animal control, her owners never claimed her. She is young, probably around 4, but old enough to have heartworms. Once bitten by a mosquito, the infection takes about 6 months to manifest itself into the heart. But once there, it can be deadly if left untreated. Treatment takes time, care and money. Won't you please help us save this precious girl?

Lake Lanier Humane League is a network of foster homes and caring volunteers who work together in an effort to place rescue animals into loving, permanent homes. It is only with the support of the community and the veterinarians we work with that we are able to work as a rescue group. Our goal is to help as many abused, misplaced, abandoned and neglected animals as we can that still have so much to offer if just given a second opportunity and find them forever homes. All of our adoptable pets have been spayed/neutered, microchipped, health checked by a vet, and given all appropriate vet care to prepare the dog or cat for adoption.

Every first and third Saturday from 11-3 we hold adoptions at PetSmart in Alpharetta across from Northpoint Mall.
Our goal is to place each pet into a loving, permanent home. The first step in the adoption process would be to submit an pre-adoption application. Processing an application for a pet in our program often involves checking vet references for current and previous pets, a home visit and a meeting with a Volunteer representative, the pet and the entire family wishing to adopt the pet. The pets in our program vary by age, breed, gender and temperament, and there are no guarantees of any particular type of pet being available at any given time. If you have specific needs or desires regarding age, gender, etc. please be patient and the pet you are looking for will turn up in rescue in time.
