Owen is a 99lb purebred smooth coat collie. While our rescue specializes in larger mix breed dogs, we also do a lot of collie rescue. The collies, for whatever reason, test positive more frequently for heartworm infection. As is the case with Owen. He is a super sweet dog that was pulled from animal control because we knew he needed help with treatment. His chances of being adopted and cared for were very slim, unless rescue came to help. The treatment takes time, care and money. Please help in anyway you can.
Please help us give him a chance to live a good life.
Lake Lanier Humane League is a virtual shelter; a network of foster homes and caring volunteers who work together in an effort to place rescue animals into loving, permanent homes. It is only with the support of the community and the Veterinarians we work with that we are able to work as a rescue group. Our goal is to help as many abused, misplaced, abandoned and neglected animals as we can that still have so much to offer if just given a second opportunity and find them forever homes. All of our adoptable pets have been spayed/neutered, microchipped, health checked by a vet, and given all appropriate vet care to prepare the dog or cat for adoption.
How you can Help

Every first and third Saturday from 11-3 we hold adoptions at PetSmart in Alpharetta across from Northpoint Mall. On the second and third Saturdays we go to PetSmart at John's Creek in Suwanee.
Our goal is to place each pet into a loving, permanent home. The first step in the adoption process is a pre-adoption application. The pets in our program vary by age, breed, gender and temperament, and there are no guarantees of any particular type of pet being available at any given time. If you have specific needs or desires regarding age, gender, etc. please be patient and the pet you are looking for will turn up in rescue in time.
