Companion Pets in Need is a referral service for pets that can no longer stay in their present environment.
How does this work if I have a companion pet that can no longer stay in it's present environment?
Send an email to petadoptioninfo@aol.com to receive the necessary paperwork to start the process.
Adopting a Companion Pet in need.
In inquiring about one of the pets in need, an application is sent out to obtain information about the potential adoptive family. This application is then reviewed by volunteers and the pet's present family to ensure that the companion pet being inquired about will be a good fit for the potential adoptive family. A home visit will then occur in conjunction with some of the applications received thus adoptions are only available to persons who live in the Georgia area. An adoption agreement is required along with providing the appropriate monthly care which includes but is not limited to: heartworm preventative and flea prevention (Frontline or Advantage). All companion pets are adopted out as inside pets only unless otherwise specified. Unfortunately due to difficulty of trying to work out-of-state adopters, referrals are only available to potential adopters in the state of GA.
How do I meet a companion pet in need?!
To meet the companion pet you are interested in, send an email to petadoptioninfo@aol.com and you will be contacted by one of our volunteers. Upon gathering the appropriate information, a meeting will be arranged for the potential adoptive family to meet the companion pet.
A $25 cash donation is necessary to facilitate this meeting which goes. Unfortunately this meeting fee is needed due to potential parents having a volunteer drive to meet them then choosing not to adopt. The volunteers are available to meet Adoptive Parents who want to provide these companion dogs and cats permanent homes. If you choose to adopt the companion pet at the meeting, then $10 of the $25 goes towards the adoption fee. Meaning you will provide $15 plus the placement fee to the volunteer whom meets you. Please keep in mind that the volunteers do this out of love for the animals and also have to juggle their own family committments and the high cost of gas prices. We look forward to helping you adopt a companion pet that fits your families needs.
What to expect at Adoption Meetings!
Due the irresponsible behavior of a few Adoptive Human Parents, checks can not be accepted. If you are interested in a particular companion pet, please plan on bringing the adoption fee in cash to the Adoption Meeting. If it is necessary for th adoptive parent to write a check then an additional $25 donation is requested due to the high number of bad checks presented. Each companion pet has their adoption fee specified in their description. At Adoption Meeting you will fill out an Adoption Contract where you agree to keep each companion pet as an inside family member. Our main goal is to find the right permanent home for each companion animal in its care. In deciding to make one of the companion animals in need part of your family, you agree that you can provide a permanent home for the pet you are adopting without hesitation and that each adult living in the home wants to adopt the pet without hesitation.
