***********ATTENTION!!********** The Shelter will be closed Monday, January 18th in observance of the Martin Luther King Holiday. It will reopen again on Tuesday, January 19th.

**********NOW OFFERING********** We now provide you with a 30 day gift of insurance for your newly adopted pet. This valuable program provides our new adopters with the peace of mind that your pet is covered for all new illnesses and a range of accidents. You will receive the ShelterCare Policy Terms & Conditions upon adoption. We are excited to be able to offer this to our adopters!

**********SPAY/NEUTER GIVEAWAY********** Adopt a pet from our shelter and your name will be entered in a drawing to receive a free Spay or Neuter at Rockmart Animal Hospital.

**********SPAY/NEUTER TRANSPORT PROGRAM********** The Polk County Humane Society now offers a Discount Spay/Neuter Transport Program. The transport leaves for the West Georgia Spay/Neuter clinic on the last Wednesday of each month. For information on pricing and admission, please call the Humane Society at 770-749-9998.

The Polk County Pet Adoption Program is now registered on iGive.com. Online since 1997, iGive.com is the internet's first shopping mall where purchases benefit your favorite cause. There are 690 online stores participating in the iGive program. Log on to iGive.com and select our adoption program as your favorite cause.

Our adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 9AM to 4PM. We are also open on Saturdays from Noon till 4:30PM. Please stop by and check out our adoptable pets!

Who We Are

We are the Animal Control Officers (ACO) serving all of Polk County. Our Staff includes four ACOs: Director Jeff Crawford, Kennel Tech/Adoption Coordinator Officer Rolland Devor, Officer Justin Bullard, Officer Raul Segura and Officer Heather White. Our Dispatcher is Dana Parrish and Volunteer/Pet Publicist is Gail Posey. Our goal is to find homes for the animals we take in, educate the public on spay/neuter control, and fight animal abuse and neglect.

Upon adoption, adopters are required to fill out a rabies and sterilization contract and will receive a Spay/Neuter Rebate Voucher provided by the Polk County Humane Society and a free 30 day health insurance policy on their pet.
