If you are interested in adopting an animal, please come by and fill out an Adoption Application.
We require proof of Current Rabies Vaccinations on all animals currently in a potential adopters residence, as well as proof of ownership for your property. If you do not own and rent your property, then a letter of approval from your landlord is required for an potential applicants.

The mission of the Barrow County Department of Animal Control Services is to promote responsible pet ownership; enforce state and local animal control laws, and to provide a temporary shelter for stray, unwanted and homeless animals.

The Animal Shelter is located at 616 Barrow Park Dr in Winder and may be reached by telephone at 770-307-3012 or fax at 770-867-1660. The Department consists of seven full time employees including a Director, Supervisor and five animal control officers.
The Shelter is Open to the Public on:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Fridays from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm
The Shelter is Closed on:
Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Holdays.
