The adoption fee includes: sterilization, Rabies vaccination, micro-chipping, exam, and the animal adoption precessing fee. The adoption fee is $100 . All animals will be sterilized prior to the new owner taking possession.
Oconee County enforces all Animal Control Ordinances. This includes abandonment, cruelty investigations, running at large, and neglect.
Animal Control Director Catlyn A. Vickers has an open door policy. If you have any type of animal problem or concern, please feel free to come by or contact the shelter at 706-769-3956. If Catlyn is not available, leave a message and she will return your call.The shelter takes every opportunity to go into schools and teach responsible pet ownership, pet care, owner responsibility, and promotes spay/neuter education.
The shelter works closely with the Envionimental Health's Rabies Control Officer on bite exposures, quarantines, and aids in educating the public with Rabies concerns.
The shelter is open to the public on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 10-5, and Saturday from 10-12 noon - unless there is a special event ~ please call before coming down, so you don't waste a trip.
The shelter is closed to the public on Wednesdays, but appointments may be available for reclaims or adoptions.
Sundays and all holidays the shelter is closed.
The shelter responds to emergency calls durning non-business hours.
