Who We Are

PeachState Pet Partners (formerly Pet Partners of Habersham), is a non-profit, federally tax-exempt charity whose purpose is the promotion of humane treatment of animals. We provide humane education, adoption, and foster home services for rescued or abandoned animals, and network with other rescue groups in an effort to find the best possible homes for the animals.

WE NEED RELIABLE VOLUNTEERS AND FOSTER HOMES!! TO INQUIRE ABOUT EITHER, PLEASE CALL: 706-776-3112.

We rescue animals at risk of euthanization at animal shelters, provide safe haven for abused and neglected pets, help owners re-home pets, and help people who have found abandoned animals, as long as we have available space. We also have a discount spay/neuter program available to anyone regardless of income, as long as funding is available.

Our organization is made up entirely of volunteers, and foster homes receive no compensation. We do collect a $150 adoption fee for dogs and $125 for cats to help defray the costs of veterinary test, rabies vaccination, micro-chipping and spaying/neutering.

We conduct our adoption events generally on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month at PETSMART, across from the Mall of Georgia, from 11:30 am - 4:00 pm. We begin adoptions at 11:30 am and end at 4:00 pm. We generally bring all of our available animals, but please call us at 706-776-1923 if you are interested in a particular one so that we can try to bring him or her that day. We also do many adoptions midweek with approved applications.

A Big Day For Sweetie Pie!!

4. Sweetie has decided she has found her forever home!
Sweetie Pie, the 8-week old kitten who was deliberately burned with an acid-like substance on Halloween, had a great day this weekend! On Saturday, two PSPP volunteers picked up Sweetie at Alpharetta Animal Hospital, where she has been recovering from her injuries. The AAH staff, who have become very fond of this brave little girl, all took time to bid a fond farewell. The volunteers, including Allison Wenum (responsible for bringing Sweetie into our rescue/adoption program), then drove to Woodstock, Georgia where TK Thornton and Kirsten Hagman were impatiently waiting for their newest family member.

TK and Kirsten were among the many kind people who offered to adopt Sweetie after learning of her plight, and we decided that they and their three cats would offer a perfect home for this special kitty. Sweetie apparently thought so too, because within a minute or two of arriving at her new home, she began exploring, playing with new toys, and meeting her new human and kitty family members. She barely looked up when we left...she was simply having too much fun!

Sweetie's experience, as horrible as it was, has shown us that there are a great number of compassionate people here in Georgia and all over the country who want to help animals victimized by abuse and neglect. We had

people as far away as California, Maryland, and Illinois inquire about her, contribute funds for her care, and offer to adopt her. We are very grateful for this outpouring of support, and plan to use some of these donations to help pay for medical bills of other deserving animals in our care.

We are also grateful that the Humane Society of the United States is offering a $2500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the people who hurt Sweetie.

Most importantly, we are thrilled that Sweetie has a second chance at life and will be loved and cherished for the rest of her days. Her injuries are healing very well and she is no longer in any pain or discomfort. She will always have a unique looking face, but those of us who have grown to know her think that she is beautiful! When we look at her little face, we see the love that has been offered to her by so many people. Perhaps the most recent donation that was given for her care is the most special. On Friday, a young girl and her mother stopped by Alpharetta Animal Hospital, and the little girl gave the clinic staff $10 that had been in her piggy bank, asking that it be used to help Sweetie. We don't know her name, but we decided to use that to help pay for the medicine that has gone with Sweetie to her new home. Thank you, Sweetheart, wherever you are!

We do ask people interested in adopting a truly needy pet to be sure to take a look at some of our other wonderful special needs cats and dogs who are also waiting for forever homes. (Their postings are marked by a heart next to their names.) And of course, we hope ALL of our pets find good homes!

Finally, we appreciate the interest and concern about Sweetie by members of the press, and media coverage has included coverage by Channel 46 (CBSAtlanta), the Atlanta Journal Constitution, and People Magazine's online pet publiction, PeoplePets. Here are the links to these stories:

Featured Adoption

Ty and Seema, of Buford, originally intended to adopt two kittens from us. But when they learned that our adult cats often wait a long time for forever homes, they decided to adopt THREE of our most special cats! Ernest and Callie, both rescued from an abuse and neglect situation at a south Georgia dairy (featured in a Best Friends article) and Chance (renamed Tux), who was abandoned and given to PSPP by a Good Samaritan, are now enjoying their new lives at Ty and Seema's home.

Thank you, Ty and Seema, for taking the time to get to know (and falling in love!) with some of our sweet adult foster kitties!

Adopting a Pet

We want you to be happy with your new pet. To this end, we screen both pets and potential owners for a good match, and to avoid future problems with dogs and cats that aren't suitable for a particular adoption. Our animals are vaccinated and tested for common diseases. The adoption fee helps offset our costs associated with our veterinary expenses, including includes vaccinations, micro-chipping, and spaying/neutering procedures. Dogs must pass a basic temperament screening test, and we do not accept animals with a history of aggression towards humans. We make an effort to crate-train and house-break dogs whenever possible.

In order to make the adoption process as pleasurable and successful as possible, we do screen adoptive homes, and follow-up after adoption. Some of our dogs require fenced yards and most of our pets (dogs and cats) require home visits.

Please contact us directly at 706-776-1923 to learn more about any of our pets or to request an application. You can also e-mail us for more information.

Volunteers Needed!

We are always looking for volunteers for a variety of activities, and we especially need dedicated individuals and families who are willing to serve as foster homes. We are limited to the number of dogs and cats we can save based on how many foster home slots we have. Please consider this incredibly impactful way of helping homeless pets!

We also need help at adoption days held at PETSMART near Mall of Georgia. We do adoptions from internet applications anytime we have an approved application. Please contact us for more information.e-mail or call 706-776-1923 and leave a message.

Other Ways You Can Help

Operating a rescue organization is a very costly endeavor. Costs associated with the actual rescue activities, routine veterinary care

and out-of-the-ordinary medical costs for special needs animals, food, heartworm and flea prevention medication, food, feeding bowls, leashes, collars, chew toys, cleaning supplies...and on and on!!...really add up. We very gratefully accept financial donations and in-kind contributions to help support our efforts. Please click on the Donate Now button to make an immediate donation (Or mail contributions to the address below or drop them off at one of our adoption events.)

Our wish list includes such items as quality-brand dog & cat food (dry & canned); Unscented Kitty Litter (Clay and Scoopable); Kong Toys & Stuffers; Cat toys; Dog Biscuits; Cat Treats; Non-Edible Chew Toys (Nylabone or similar); Snap Collars (we like to give them new collars when they come in); Dog and Cat Beds – All Sizes; Squeaky Toys for Dogs; Collapsible/folding Crates.

Please contact us is you are interested in donating any of these items. Thank you!!
