The Last Chance Sanctuary
Happy New Year! Let's make 2012 a year to remember for the homeless pets of Brevard! We have so many pets waiting for their new homes. Help us make this year their lucky year!
If you can't adopt right now, you can still help a shelter pet. The Last Chance Sanctuary will be hosting a pet food drive at all of our adoption locations. (Petco Viera, Petco West Melbourne and Petsmart Melbourne). We are always in need of cat food (dry and canned), dog food, litter, toys and treats. Just drop ot off to one of our volunteers during our weekend adoption events. You may even meet a new furrever friend...
The Last Chance Sanctuary is no-kill, non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Our group consists solely of volunteers who share the passion for helping homeless animals to find loving homes. Since we do not have a shelter facility, we keep our animals in our homes. Because of this, we know our foster kitties personalities and we are better able to match them with the right family based on this. The Last Chance Sanctuary is a newer group in the area consisting of seasoned volunteers who volunteer tirelessly in their efforts to find forever homes for the (too) many unwanted and discarded cats in Brevard County.
Our mission is to provide safe haven to feral cats of southern Brevard County (Florida) that have lost their homes (i.e., feral colony) through man-made or natural disaster, have been found living in an unsafe area (e.g., by a busy roadway) or in situations that require their relocation. The Sanctuary will be established to provide clean, comfortable living conditions with ample food and water and necessary medical care to include annual check-ups and vaccinations. The secondary, and necessary, mission is the fostering and adoption of feral cats that are found to be social and suitable for adoption. This includes kittens born of feral cats.
Potential adopters must complete an adoption application and be approved by the foster parent. Our adoption fee is $85 per cat/kitten. All cats adopted through our organization are neutered/spayed, tested for FIV/FelV, have their age-appropriate vaccines, have been treated for internal and external parasites and are micro-chipped. If you are interested in an animal that is listed on this site, please contact the foster parent by phone or email to make arrangements to see it. Since we cannot bring all of our fosters to our adoption events, please make sure you contact us if there is a pet you would like to see. (If you cannot make it to our weekend events, we will be happy to make other arrangements with you during the week.) All of our volunteers work full-time jobs and volunteer many hours to our organization. Please be patient. We will do our best to return all calls/emails within a 24 hour time period!
One way to help is to donate cat scratchers to our kitties! Go to: www.catclaws.com/adoptacat/ and you can order us a case of scratchers (20) from Imperial Cat for only $25. Help the kitties feel more at home while they await their forever home! Or you can call them at 1-800-783-0977 and ask for Kristie. You can order your own cat a cool scratcher too! Thanks Imperial Cat for offering this to us!
Another way to help is to register with Bring Pets Home to do your on-line shopping. By registering and choosing Biker Bill’s as your shelter, BBTLCS will receive a percentage of every dollar spent. There are some great sites to shop on like Amazon, Wal-Mart and many others.
We will be holding adoption events every Saturday and Sunday at Petsmart in Melbourne (off of Route 192, across from the Mall). We are also at at Petco in Viera (by the Walmart) every Saturday. We are set up about halfway back in the store, in the old bird room. Come visit us this weekend!!!
