Our Pet List

PLEASE NOTE: Dogs and cats listed may or MAY NOT be at the Boynton Beach PETsMART on any given weekend. Please read each pet's description carefully for their status and email us for information or with any questions. We are all volunteer, and it may take a day or so to respond to your inquiry. All the dogs and many of the cats are in foster homes. Some dogs are courtesy postings. There is no guarantee that any of the listed dogs will be at the Boynton Beach PETsMART. All adoptions and fosters are limited to those who reside in Palm Beach County, Florida, and are able to pick up the pet in person. We thank you for your inquiries, but we are unable to return out-of-state phone calls due to limited funds.

Pet of the Month

Our pet of the month is .........

SAD*SAC Petfinder listings get about 1,000 visitors per week. The majority of "hits" are on our listed puppies. Puppies are adorable - who could resist one! They are small, affectionate, cuddly!! They are also dangerous. Dangerous because they can seem so appealing, that it is easy to overlook the tremendous amount of work that is involved in raising and caring for one. If you are looking for a puppy, please consider a young adult or adult dog, too. Adult dogs are usually already house-trained, leash-trained, cat-trained, chew-trained, and kid-tested. You can tell exactly what their ultimate size and temperment will be like. There are so many advantages to adopting an adult dog. Most of all, they need homes terribly! Please, if you are looking for a puppy, consider an adult pet. If you are not sure whether an older pet would adapt to your home, we have an excellent fostering program (see below) which may help you decide. We have many pets to choose from; please drop in at the Boynton Beach PETsMART on the weekends to talk to one of our volunteers, or email us, to find out which one might be right for you.

News

We are actively interviewing new foster homes to help us rescue more unwanted pets. The horror of pets left in abandoned homes due to evictions and foreclosures has become a crisis in the last few months. These poor pets need our help NOW. The more good foster homes that we have, the more pets that can be saved.

Fostering is excellent for the pets, as it allows them to become readjusted to family life. It also allows us to better assess their temperments, and their likes and dislikes. Fostering is also a great way for potential adopters to see if a particular type of pet (dog or cat) will suit their lifestyle. A potential first time pet owner may not completely understand the amount of work (and the amount of joy) that can result from adding a cat or dog to the home. Current pet owners might want to add another pet to their home, but may not be sure how their existing pet will adjust. By being a foster parent, potential adopters can care for a pet for a finite amount of time, without making a formal adoption (which is a lifetime commitment). We pay for the medical, food, etc., and you supply the love.

If your are thinking about adoption, but not quite sure of the impact of having a new dog or cat, or if you just love animals, consider our fostering program. Please email us (see contact information at the end of this site) for more information.

Who We Are

SAD*SAC was organized in 1998 to address the plight of unwanted, abandoned, and abused dogs and cats. Our goal is to find loving, forever homes for these pets, and to educate the public on lifetime commitment, spay and neuter, and compassion for our companion animals.

It’s an old problem and a new way for YOU to help. Save A Dog! Save A Cat! Be a HERO ! Did you know that owners who bring their PETS to local shelters as UNWANTED are often being told that their pets will be EUTHANIZED IMMEDIATELY because there is no room? No five day reprieve for them. They are young and old, purebred and mixed, naughty and nice, pets who have one thing in common…their owners no longer want them…for good reasons or bad…it doesn’t matter. What does matter is that these pets all need homes NOW!

SAD*SAC is dedicated to saving the lives of pets who would otherwise be neglected, dumped in strange neighborhoods, onto the highways, or taken to shelters which are bursting at the seams with unwanted dogs and cats that must quickly be euthanized to make room for others.

Adopting a friend

SAD*SAC dogs and cats are available for adoption upon completion of a personal interview, an adoption application, a contract, and the payment of an adoption fee. Remember, not all pets are suitable for all homes, and SAD*SAC reserves the right to deny any adoption. The adoption fee for cats is $82.00 and up(some with discounts), and for neutered dogs and puppies is $150.00. Puppies that are not neutered/spayed require an additional $50.00 neuter/spay deposit. When the adopter has the puppy neutered/spayed (within 3 months of adoption) and submits proof of the surgery to SAD*SAC, the deposit will be returned. In addition, all pets are microchipped. Note: We would like to thank folks outside of our area for their interest in our available pets, but we do not adopt outside of Palm Beach County.
