Xena is a female, adult B&G Macaw. She is hand tame. Xena came to us after she started to pluck her chest feathers. Her chest is bald but has new feather growth coming in. It remains to be seen if she will allow the feathers to grow. Xena likes to spend time with her human or is happy to sit on top of her cage and play. She does have a small attitude as many female macaws do.

Who We Are

Mission Statement: The Parrot Outreach Society is a non-profit organization whose sole concern is parrot welfare in captivity and conservation of wild parrots. We are an outreach and placement program which places into safe custody, parrots which are abandoned, abused, or in need of a home for any reason. Parrots are intelligent, highly social and complex beings with a life span of up to 80 years. The individual birdís best interest and well being of the present flock will determine if a parrot is accepted into the organization. We actively support networking with other parrot welfare groups, animal welfare organizations, the veterinary community, conservation organizations and the general public. Education is of the utmost importance concerning the well being of a parrot and its ability to successfully live with its human companions. Standards of Care: Parrot Outreach Society is a 501©(3), non-profit organization. We are an organization working to create awareness of parrots throughout the world by supporting international conservation efforts and local public education regarding pet parrots. We currently maintain 6 programs: education, rescue, rehabilitation, foster care, adoption and conservation. Any person needing educational materials or help can contact us for support. Having problems with your parrot? Call us before you give up! We will try to help solve/diminsh the problem through education. If this does not suit your needs we take the bird in. .
