Wow I am Quite the HANDSOME BOY!!

I really am looking for the perfect home to call my own. I enjoy

romping in the water, playing in the grass, and just being with you. My

only hang up is that I can get jealous, so I have to have a home by

myself. That is OK though with me. Please take the time to look at me

and I hope to here from you soon. I have been waiting quite a while for

MY family.

HAPPY TAILS ADOPTION STORIES
Texas Belle
Hi Jerri As you can see, these two have found a common bond.  The first storm Belle found one of Mac's places to "hide", and when he found her there, he simply just moved her over and that's how they stayed for about 30 minutes.  Since then, she has made it her business to plop in all his favorite places, much to his dismay.   Everything is going well.  Belle has stopped attacking him in the yard, and only on rare occasion will she go after him in the house (we can't figure out what triggers it).  But all in all, it's a peaceful scene.  We have learned that while Belle will play in the pool and yard for the better part of 3 hours (only if one of us is in the yard with her), that she ingests LARGE amounts of water that must come out.  Sooooo, about 40 minutes after she comes in and every 40 minutes after that I will take her out, tell her to hurry up and we're good to go.  We've had a few accidents in the house by us not understanding her "signs" asking to go out.   Both dogs will not go out in the dark alone, and give me grief about going out without a person.  I guess the storms (almost daily) preceded by the fireworks has done them in.  Belle still has the crate but is not locked up in it, and in fact the crate is moving on to a more needy animal on Friday.  She likes to sleep in Dana's closet as well as under the piano, in the kitchen corner behind the table, and under the computer where you see her in the picture.  When she's wet, her first choice to recline is the sleeper sofa in the computer room or our bed.   Their morning starts at 5:15 am when Belle leaps up with the alarm, then out the door.  When they come in they have a milk bone, and that's when she likes her squeaky toys.  If Dana doesn't appear to be moving around sufficiently for work, she assumes he's not going anywhere and he's home all day to play with her.  Her nose is the first thing I see every night when I get home as the door opens.  She is not battling to get out the door anymore, but we're still very careful about that.   That's about it.  I hope this puts your mind somewhat at ease.  She does have a good home and she's well cared for.      Michele

Miss Molly
I got Miss Molly from Jerri two years ago. I couldn't believe there was such a thing as a couch potato border collie. Well she is but  being the only girl, she  is in charge. She is very independent and plays with Hershey the rottie/shepherd. Montana the aussie/border collie is 10 but he still plays with her on her terms. She is shy with cameras and it is hard to get her picture. Love her a lot. Joyce

Skye
We adopted Skye from SEBCRL in Florida, November 15th, 2002. Skye was approx 2 1/2 years old when we got her from the rescue. We have 4 girls, and we wanted a young dog, but not a pup. We had our eye on a traditional black and white border collie on the web page. She was 1 year old. When we went up to see her, we met a high drive girl who made our heads spin. She was way too much for our family. Jerri had several other dogs in mind that would fit into our family. We looked at the other dogs. One was Nann, very sweet, but too sneaky about stealing kibbles for me! She now has a wonderful home of her own. Another was a little too shy. We finally narrowed it down to Skye. Skye does not "look" like what we were expecting. She is blue merle, not B/W. She has funny 2 color party eyes, not brown. She IS all we hoped for and much more though, in a BC! Skye was a bit shy of my girls for the first few weeks. We let her take her time to get to know our children. The children had a hard time waiting for Skye to come to them. Their patience, paid off though, as Skye found fun things to do with each. We let Skye make the first moves to play with the girls too. She now has special things to do with each one. My oldest likes to take Skye to the park for calm walks. Skye gets so excited when she sees Lisa is home from college for a weekend! The next oldest loves to sneak Skye a goodie or two, and pet her when she is calm... The next is a sporty girl, and likes to do agility with Skye. They love toss games too. The youngest girl in our home is a wheelchair child. Skye was afraid of her at first. Skye now has several special things she does with our youngest girl Donna. She gets so excited to hear that school bus bring Donna home! Donna always gives Skye an extra special goodie and plays a toss game. I am home with Skye most days. She loves to cuddle up with my husband. We feel like Jerri did a great job matching our Skye to us as a family. She took into consideration all the things we wanted in a dog. We did have to work through a few things. Jerri helped with those too. I think it took about three months for Skye to come out of her shell, and KNOW that she was really here to stay. Skye had several homes that we know of before us. Her breeder, and first homes are unknown. She had heartworms, and was to be PTS at the shelter as a stray. SEBCRL took her in had her cured of HW. She then found a wonderful new family. Skye and the other doggies did not get along. Skye, being the new girl, had to come back to the rescue. We met Skye there. It now seems like we have had Skye always, and this is the last stop for her. OUR Rescue girl RULES!!!! Marjie

Tilly
I adopted Tilly from Jerri about 5 years ago.  She was about 6 years old, and came from Georgia where her woman owner had taken her to the Veterinarian and told him to put her to sleep because she peed on her bed. Tilly was very nervous when she first came home. My veterinarian sorted out her peeing problem by giving her hormone replacement pills which she takes twice a week, and now she never pees in the house. She loves to be out in the back yard and loves to play "fight" with the five Chihuahuas who live next door. Both Tilly and Scotty are very protective, loving and affectionate. They both hate thunder storms and fireworks. I adopted Scotty from Jerri about 1 year ago.

About Us

We are the Southeast Border Collie Rescue League of Florida (aka SEBCRL), a private not-for-profit 501(c)3 breed rescue organization founded in 1984 and based upon compassion and understanding for the needs of our breed. We are comprised of volunteers who give their time, ability, homes and money to help place Border Collies where they will be loved and well cared for. Our primary goal is to provide a reliable rescue effort for abandoned, lost, mistreated, or unwanted Border Collies because of improper placement. Our cornerstone is the knowledge that Border Collies are not the breed for everyone. From that, we have built working relationships with area shelters for breed recognition and the realization that this breed requires a carefully screened home. We have formed a close bond with several area veterinarians in helping us care for the Border Collies we take into our rescue. Our adoption process distinguishes itself on the basis of breed education, spay/neuter requirements, health management, training assistance, and our lifetime commitment to all Border Collies under our responsibility. We subscribe to the highest standards set forth by the Border Collie Society of America. Our rescue efforts and success stories distinguish us as one of the more active and successful rescues in the Southeast United States. We are proud of that success. All adopted dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on all shots, tested for heartworms, on heartworm preventative, and full of love to give. Our dogs are well rounded and have gone to a variety of different homes including: agility, frisbee, flyball, service dogs, search and rescue, herding, drug dog detection, Sea World Shows, obedience and "pet" homes.
