The Animal Rescue Site
The Animal Rescue Site is hosting a special challenge for eligible Petfinder.com member shelter and rescue groups. The grand prize is a $20,000 grant, and they will be awarding many other grants to rescue groups with the most votes — a total of $100,000 in grants for animal welfare organizations.

Think how many animals we could help for $20,000!

Help us win! All you have to do is click to help rescued animals, and then vote. Both of these actions are absolutely free! You can vote once a day, every day, from April 13 through July 26, 2009. Every time you vote, or tell a friend to vote, you are making a huge difference for us.

Our Featured Pets

Sweet Pea
True to her name, this 3 year old pit bull is a super sweet girl. Sweet Pea came to us after her owners had moved, and left her behind in their house - with no food or water. Sweet Pea was in rough shape when she came in, but she's made a full recovery! Sweet Pea loves people, she thinks she is a lap dog. She happily runs up to every one, begging for belly rubs. Sweet Pea is looking for a home where she can be the only 4-legged member. Sweet Pea loves to snuggle and sleep in bed with you at night. She is house trained and crate trained, knows sit, come and a few other basic commands. Are you looking for a constant, loving companion? Then come meet Sweet Pea today - we guarantee you will fall in love.
br>Sweet Pea has been looking for her forever home since October. Wont you concider giving this wonderful girl a chance?

Skittles

This adorable sweetie is 3 year old Skittles! When she came to us she was so shy and scared, but not anymore! Skittles is now running all over the office playing with the other kitties, and having a ball! She loves to play with her toys, she loves feathers and the little rattle balls best. She will come up to strangers and beg to be petted! She rubs against your legs and lets you know that she's a different girl now, and trusts the people that love her! She loves to have her belly rubbed, and will gladly roll over for you! Skittles has been at the shelter for about 2 years now! She is a great girl so deserving of a new forever home. Could that be yours?

Each pet is special and unique in their own way and deserves to be featured. Please take a look at those we have posted and feel free to stop in and meet them to see which touches your heart. The site is updated frequently, but there may be newcomers in the shelter that have not been posted yet who are also looking for a loving home and family.

Who We Are

The Suncoast Animal League publicly opened its door on December 2, 2006.

Adoptions have included cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and even an iguana!

We are a newly established animal welfare organization that will serve as an additional educational community resource working to educate the public about the prevention of cruelty to animals; to provide a home to animals in need; and to serve as a resource for pet owners that find themselves in extraordinary circumstances possibly needing temporary assistance for the care of their animals.

The Suncoast Animal League is a not-for-profit animal welfare organization established in 2006 whose mission is to work for charitable and educational purposes for the prevention of cruelty to animals. We rely solely on public donations to help and care for all our animals.

Please visit our website at www.suncoastanimalleague.org.

Opportunities to help the animals include:

Foster Care, Shelter Animal Care, Adoptions, Fundraising

Event Planning, Public Education, Therapy Visits

Office Assistance, Technical Development, Maintenance/Handy Work

And much more!!

If you are interested in learning more about the Suncoast Animal League’s programs and services, and how you can be a part of this exciting new animal agency, please stop in for a visit or call (727) 786-1330 for more information.

Adopting A Forever Friend

The most rewarding service we offer here at the Suncoast Animal League is our pet adoption program. We stand by our belief that these animals are our pets until they become yours, so we get to know the personality and name of each and every animal. Our friendly staff enjoys matchmaking prospective owners with just the right pet... so feel free to ask for our assistance!

Most animals are ready to go home the same day, so be prepared to have a pet carrier with you if you are looking for a feline friend. If you are looking for a canine companion please bring a dog collar and leash to get your dog home safely.

Suncoast Animal League reserves the right to refuse any adoption and has the right to repossess any animal if it is endangered or neglected.

We want this to be a great adoption experience for both you and your new pet - so please seriously consider the commitment beforehand.

If you have some room in your heart -- and home -- for another addition to your family, please consider adopting one of the wonderful pets listed on our site.
