Just Fur You Cat Adoptions is a non-profit organization registered with the State of Florida Division of Corporations. We are a very small foster program dedicated to the rescue, care, rehabilitation, and adoption of abandoned, injured and unwanted cats. Since we do not have a shelter, our “furbabies” live in our homes where they are considered family members and are cared for with the love and personal attention they deserve. None of our cats or kittens are ever kept in cages.
Adopting a friend
All of our cats and kittens are examined by a licensed veterinarian. Prior to adoption, they are spayed or neutered, tested for feline leukemia (FeLV) and feline aids (FIV), given age appropriate vaccinations, a fecal analysis, dewormed, checked for ear mites and treated with Advantage for flea control.
How to Adopt
If you are interested in adopting a cat or kitten, please email or telephone for an adoption application. All adoptions are by appointment only. Cats/kittens must go home in a carrier. The cost of adoption is $50.
If You Are Feeding Stray Cats
If you are feeding stray or unsocialized cats in your backyard or place of business, trap them NOW and have them spayed/neutered before they reproduce. If you need help, please email or telephone and explain your situation.
We Are TNR Advocates
The success of Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) is well documented and is an effective, internationally recognized program to reduce, and eventually eliminate, stray and unsocialized cat colonies. Cats are trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated for rabies, treated for fleas and ear tipped (ear tipping is a way of marking each cat as neutered). After a post-surgery recovery period, cats are returned to their original location where a committed caretaker provides them with food and monitors the colony for new arrivals to prevent the cycle from starting all over again. The existing adults do not have litter after litter of kittens to replace them and the colony disappears over a number of years. Each individual cat is allowed to live out his/her life, but the over all population is decreased.
We Are Available to Help
Just Fur You is available to help people who want to TNR stray or unsocialized cats in their area. While we trap many cats every year we do not have the financial resources to help all of cats we are contacted about. But,
• We are available to teach anyone who wants to learn how to use a humane trap.
• If you are unable to physically trap but are able to contribute part of the cost of surgeries and continue to feed and monitor the cats, we will help you as time and money allow.
• If you are unable to physically trap but are willing to fund the cost of surgeries and continue to feed and monitor the cats, we will trap for you as time allows.
• If you are able to physically trap and fund the cost of surgeries but do not have traps, we can lend them to you. You will be asked to leave a $60 deposit for each trap borrowed – your deposit will be refunded when the trap is returned.
