Note: The dogs we post with kill dates are not with our rescue but are in county shelters who will kill them on the dates given. We do not kill dogs. On the contrary, we do everything to save them, like posting their pictures and info here. We will pull these dogs from the shelter and vet them and find them homes but we need a foster home where they can stay while they wait for their forever home. We will not sugarcoat or hide the fact that dogs are killed everyday in county shelters because there are not enough homes for them. Please read the Letter From A Shelter Manager.

Adopting A Friend

Our adoption procedure consists of an adoption application, a homecheck/homevisit and communication with the family's current veterinarian. Every one of our animals are spayed/neutered before going to their new forever home...no exceptions, so please don't ask.

We are not a shelter but individual foster homes. We always need volunteers. If you have any room in your home and heart, please consider fostering! If you can't foster but still want to help, contact us.

Foster Homes and Volunteers Needed

BECOME A FOSTER HOME!! Temporary foster homes are such a vital part of our organization since we operate through a network of foster homes rather than a shelter facility. One person CAN make a difference in the life of a dog or cat. The more foster homes we have, the more dogs and cats we can save. Sometimes it may be hard to let go when an adoptive family is found; however, it is very emotionally rewarding to know that you have helped save the life of the animal you foster.

Please consider opening your heart and home to a dog or cat while he/she waits for a "forever family". Becoming a foster home is EASY and the biggest way that you can help. First, complete our foster home questionnaire and then a volunteer will contact you for a home visit. At that time, we will go over what is involved with being a foster home and discuss how involved you would like to be in the adoption process.

Once you have your foster animal, it is important to be patient and allow time to adjust to the new surroundings. As a foster parent, you will play an important part in a successful adoption by observing the habits of the animal and helping to determine the type of home that would be best suited for the pet. The foster family needs to provide LOVE. Help make a difference today!! Remember, "Saving one pet may not change the world, but it will change the world for that pet!" VOLUNTEER TO HELP!! Help End Dog Fighting

Meet Oogy...very lucky to have survuved the horrors of being a bait dog! Oogy the dog was only four months old when he was tied to a stake and used as bait to teach other dogs how to fight in the disgusting world of underground dog-fighting. Viciously attacked by other dogs, the left side of Oogy's head, from behind his eye to his ear, was torn completely off - his jawbone and skull irreparably damaged. He was then thrown into a cage where he would have bled to death if not for the sudden raid on the dog fighting ring by the police who took Oogy to a vet who nursed him back to life.

Despite his horrible ordeal, Oogy is a real sweetheart and was adopted by a loving family. He now makes appearances to put a face to the horrors of dog fighting ."Oogy’s story reminds us to see with our hearts and that for every heinous act, there is good in this world—and that is something worth fighting for," says his owner, Larry Levin.

HELP!!! MUST REHOME due to new addition to family "After two long years of being on a waiting list for an agility dog, we have been notified by the breeder that, at long last, our number has come up and .WE ARE HAVING A PUPPY!!!

We must get rid of our children IMMEDIATELY because we just know how time consuming our new little puppy is going to be and it just wouldn't be fair to the children. Since our little puppy will be arriving on Monday we MUST place the children this weekend! They are described as:

One male - His name is Tommy, Caucasian (English/Irish mix), light blonde hair, blue eyes. Four years old. Excellent disposition. He doesn't bite. Temperament tested. Does have problems with peeing directly in the toilet. Has had Chicken Pox and is current on all shots. Tonsils have already been removed. Tommy eats everything, is very clean, hou se trained & gets along well with others. Does not run with scissors and with a little training he should be able to read soon.

One female - Her name is Lexie, Caucasian (English/Irish mix), strawberry blonde hair, green eyes quite freckled. Two years old. Can be surly at times. Non-biter, thumb sucker. Has been temperament tested but needs a little attitude adjusting occasionally. She is current on all shots, tonsils out, and is very healthy & can be affectionate. Gets along well with other little girls & little boys but does not like to share her toys and therefore would do best in a one child household. She is a very quick learner and is currently working on her house training - shouldn't take long at all.

We really do LOVE our children so much and want to do what's right for them; that is why we contacted a rescue group. But we simply can no longer keep them. Also, we are afraid that they may hurt our new puppy.

I hope you understand that ours is a UNIQUE situation and we have a real emergency here!!! They MUST be placed in rescue by Sunday night at the latest or we will be forced to drop them off at the orphanage or along some dark, country road. Our priority now has to be our new puppy."

Sounds just as ridiculous and ignorant when you have to "rehome" your pet, doesn't it?
