About This Special Dog

BEAUTIFUL BASSETT BROTHERS are two funny, beautiful, sweethearts! These two brothers are very well behaved and would love to be your two new best buddies. They promise to keep each other company and compete for your attention. They love each other very much and would like to stay together. They are hilarious with their slow moving, sweet demeanor. You can really tell when they get excited as their speed and behavior changes into comical body language.
> BASSETT HOUNDS -
The name comes from the French word "bas", meaning "low". An excellent scent hound, the Basset has been successfully used to hunt deer, fox, rabbit and game birds. The breed's low build is particularly useful in dense cover. His slow pace is convenient for hunters on foot and keeps game from being scared out of reach. The Basset's nose is almost as outstanding as the Bloodhound's. This short-legged, long-bodied, heavy-boned hound looks something like a low version of a Bloodhound. Gentle and devoted, very affectionate. Peaceful and naturally well-behaved. Sweet, but can be very willful. Does well with gentle, patient training and positive reinforcement. Basset temperament should always be friendly with never an indication of sharpness or viciousness. Likes doing tricks for food. Excellent with children. Loves everyone. Independence:  Needs people a lot. Low dominance. Generally good with other pets. Not a barker. Needs a lot of exercise, despite his low-energy demeanor. Has exceptional stamina and is more agile than appearance suggests. Medium size, low maintenance. Needs regular exercise and brushing.  These dogs are easy going, low energy, and did we say, sweet, sweet, sweet.  Oh, they make you laugh too!

Looking forward to wearing a collar with a name tag, and maybe even sporting a cool bandana.
Remember: A dog's disposition is dependent upon how it is treated and raised by its human family (the pack).
Best Traits Fantastic small-sized, low maintenance, funny, endearing, cuddle-bug of a guy. He's the dog on the RCA TV commercials watching television and the icon for the RCA record player. He's a moderate type of guy. He's the perfect size. His personality is wonderful. He's the perfect dog! He's less hyper than a Jack Russell Terrier and a little bigger than a chihuahua. He loves people, children, and other animals. Talk about a versatile best friend. He will sit on your lap or next to you while you watch TV, hide under the covers like a little cuddle-bug during the night, can run with the big dogs at the off-leash park, and will safeguard your home by barking at the out of the ordinary. He's very intelligent and responds to love and affection. Who doesn't? [smile] He is already housetrained. Wow! He is wonderful. Best Traits These two are a comical, loveable pair of brothers. They would like to stay together if at all possible. They are affectionate and enjoy the company of humans. They really like children. They are low maintenance. They have awesome personalities. They will keep each other busy and entertain their human family and/or person for hours on end. They are medium sized dogs. They look like they are not that active, but will spend play time with you and others at the dog park or in the yard. In the evening, they will curl up for bedtime in a designated location or cuddle up with you by your side. These two sweeties were rescued from the local animal control where they almost lost their lives. They were dumped in the middle of the road and left to fend for themselves. Can you believe it? Yikes! These two are definitely the hush puppy

> Foster Homes Needed -
Desperately need foster homes to save lives from kill shelter.  The dogs only offense?  They did nothing. There's just not enough happy homes to go around soon enough. Please consider being a temporary foster parent to a homeless animal.  Help save a life through temporary foster care.  It's a wonderful gift to give you and a precious innocent animal.  Please spread the news ... temporary foster homes needed.
> Donations -
Donations are greatly appreciated. We are a foster program only, so we don't have a building. We are seeking a land donation in Crestview, Mossy Head, or the surrounding area for a permanent location. Do you know anyone that would be interested making a tax deductible land donation? In return, the generous gift giver will be forever memorialized as the angelic generous human who helped to rescue innocent homeless animals from misery and eventual death. Thank you for your help!

PAL - Who We Are

Friends - We are a group of friends rescuing homeless animals from the local animal control. If we do not rescue the animals, they will face certain death.
Non-Profit -
We are a non-profit organization. Financial survival is strictly based on donations and the generosity of our kind supporters.
All gifts and purchases are tax deductible.
Terrific Pets -
We have terrific pets waiting for you! Why are they so terrific? Because all of our animals have proper vaccinations and are spayed or neutered before being placed in their forever homes. They are being cared for by kind care givers in temporary foster homes, so they are being socialized and are receiving initial training. We appreciate your visiting our terrific pets who are waiting for their special new forever home.

> Save Lives -
Please support laws to require low-cost spay and neutering.  Please educate others about the overpopulation problem - spay and neuter. Million of animals lose their lives each year through euthanasia at local kill animal control centers simply because there aren't enough loving human homes to go around. The Junior Humane Society in Pensacola and the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) provide low-cost spay and neutering services. Why Rescue? Animals are already spayed / neutered, so that's no cost to you.
> Rewarding Rescue -
Rescue is rewarding.  Thank you
for being an angel to consider adopting a homeless animal. You're saving a valuable life from certain death.
