Rescue is a service provided for Italian Greyhounds that have been abandoned at animal shelters, taken from abusive homes or surrendered to Rescue due to the death or divorce of the former owner. Occasionally, dogs are turned over to Rescue because the owner can no longer keep the dog and the dog was acquired from a source to which it cannot be returned.
IG Rescue members foster these orphans in their homes, where their health and temperament are evaluated. All dogs are taken for a veterinary check-up: vaccinations are updated, the animal is neutered/spayed and, if necessary, its teeth are cleaned. Each Italian Greyhound is evaluated so that it can be placed in a home suitable to both the dog and new owners.
Prospective adopters are required to fill out a short application and go through an interview process, including a home check. At the time of placement, the adoptee is required to sign a simple adoption contract. A $250.00 donation is requested at the time of placement. These donations are returned to the Italian Greyhound Rescue Fund to provide medical care for future rescue dogs.

Who We Are
We are The Italian Greyhound Club of America ( IGCA) , Florida chapter.
Our purpose is to help the IG's in Florida find their forever homes. We accept owner surrenders, and dogs from shelters. We realize there are many reasons a dog must be relinquished to rescue, and it is often a difficult decision. We will not judge you, but will try to help ease the transition for the dog, and place him where he will be able to live out the rest of his life with one forever family.
Adopting a friend
If you wish to adopt, you MUST fill out an application, by going to
www.italiangreyhound.org , fill out the application and mail it to ME. not the address on the form. When you have gotten that far, email me and i will tell you what the address is. PLEASE DO NOT inquire til you have filled out the forms. You do NOT exist til I have your application in my hands and I will not respond to your emails!! This is not to be mean, it is because i am SWAMPED with email!! I can't respond to "curious" emails with out an application. There are just too many. Thanks!!!
Come Visit Us!
Not all dogs are fostered in one place. We do not have a shelter, just a family of foster friends who bring the dog home to live with them until the perfect match is found. Sometimes you can visit the dog prior to adopotion, but NOT until the application is approved.
