Our Featured Pet...

Our featured pet is "Dusty". Dusty is a very special little boy. He came to us as an abandoned pet-by a third party! He was a throw-away pup that was left alone in a back yard, behind a privacy fence for at least 3 to 3 1/2 weeks before anyone knew he was there!! A kind neighbor rescued him after she saw him starting to try and dig out from behind the privacy fence!! The sweet neighbor rescued him and brought him to us. Dusty is a sweet little older Maltese boy--he is about 6 to 7 years old. His shots are up to date, he is heartwork negative, he has had a dental, and has been neutered. He is doing well going potty outside, but does need a belly band inside, as he still occasionally will have a wetting accident. He is a precious little guy, he weighed under 7 lbs. when he came to us--he is now just over 9 lbs, still a little guy. He loves to be a lapdog, and he loves all the love and attention he can get. He does have mild separation anxiety if he is alone, he always has the company of the other dogs in our care. He would do best with someone that is home most of the time. He loves to be right with you, and will follow you like a shadow all through the house. He loves to go for rides in the car!! He would be the perfect pet for a settled home without small children. His adoption fee is only $150.00 to cover most of his vetting. Could you please find it in your heart to adopt this very precious boy?? I know you will be glad that you did.

News

As of 2008--because of my physical limits resulting from an auto accident I was involved in last year, I am not taking in rescues on a regular basis. I am only taking in small numbers (1 or 2 at a time), of very special cases--my health and time will not allow more than that at this time.

Who We Are

We are a small rescue--we have only been in existence for a short while, (just over a year and a half) we are in the process of applying for tax exempt status and to become a tax-deductible non-profit organization. I myself have personally been saving and caring for animals nearly all of my life!! (Strnagely-with me it all started when my father was stationed in England--and I had to wait down the street for a school bus!! I used to feed all the stray dogs that came to me my lunch! If only my mother knew!!) We are committed to helping as many animals as we can-to be saved from being destroyed in kill shelters and finding them "forever homes" that will give them the love and care that they deserve!! We will take animals that are sick and unadoptable, rehabilitate them, love and care for them, and make them the best pets that we can. We also will sometimes take animals surrendered by their owners due to unforeseen circumstances. In the end--you will receive a new family member that is well-socialized, cared for, and ready to love and be loved!! We specialize in rescuing and caring for Pekingese and Persians. Though we do accept other small dogs (16 lbs and under) and Persian, Himalayan, and exotic shorthair cats as we are able. I have cared for Persians for over 21 years. I have experience in rehabilitating very sick kitties and restoring them to health. I love Persians, they are my favorite breed of cat--and I love to groom and care for them. I will be very careful in choosing a home for any of my rehabilitated kitties--as I have gone to great lengths to restore them to health--and will make sure that they are going to the best possible homes for them.

Adopting a friend

All adoptions require: A home visit before being approved as an adopting family, at least three phone calls within the first month after adoption, and a followup home visit to see how the new family member is doing. All adoptions require that you fill out an Adoption Application as well as an Adoption Contract. We will need a reference from your vet, a groomer (if you have one), and two personal references. We will check your references before you will be approved for adoption. I will only consider adopting a cat out of state--if your references can be confirmed and you are willing to travel to meet the prospective adoptee, and you are willing to travel with them. We will not ship rescued animals. Pekingese dogs cannot be adopted out of state--but any area of the State of Florida will be considered.

Please call and schedule a visit!

We are located in Orange Park, FL -- Off of I-295. Please call and we will give specific directions and make an appointment for viewing any prospective adoptee.
