Our Featured Pet...

Josie needs a home desperately - taken to a vet to be euthanized, the vet decided she deserved a chance. Feeding her, loving her, and giving her a will to live, the vet succeeded in turning this little emaciated German shepherd dog mix around. Now ready to be adopted, Josie will give back the love the vet instilled in her dying body. Help finish what the vet began and give this little girl a chance with a family who will feed her and not leave her to starve. See her on our list. thanks!

News

Not much goes on around here but scooping poop and loving the animals! But we would like to publically say thanks to our wonderful volunteers who help so much. Special recognition goes to Candy Dean who braves the barking and the mess to work on-site with all the dogs and cats.! Thanks, Candy!

Who We Are

Rainbow Ranch is a sanctuary for over 40 special needs, old, and/or difficult to adopt dogs and cats. On three acres in rural central Florida, the dogs and cats live in a home-based shelter with all the luxuries and attention possible. The dogs who live indoors as much as they wish have a fully fenced acre Dog Park complete with secured swimming pool, digging areas, trees, bushes and a barn for sniffing. Inside the "home" are over 50 open crates and over 30 dog beds and chairs just for lounging and sleeping. Toys abound and there is one fulltime staff human on duty 24/7 to provide attention and frequent trips to the veterinarians. For more information, please see our website at www.rainbowranch.org . We are chartered as a 501(c)3 charity under the rules of the IRS and incorporated as a non-profit charitable corporation in Florida. Thanks for visiting and supporting our work for the special needs dogs and cats!

Adopting a friend

Our main purpose is to provide a home for the unadoptable dog or cat. Occasionally we have an animal who has completed rehab so he or she is ready to be adopted or we have a normal rescue come to Rainbow Ranch who is healthy enough to have his or her own adoptive home. To adopt from us, please see our adoptables here or on our website and contact us with a summary of what you can provide the animal you are interested in. Our adoption donations (we are 501(c)3) are minimal and cover actual veterinary and rehabilitation expenses. All donations are tax-deductible under the regulations of the IRS. We admit we are tough and require personal references and veterinary approval as well as a home visit to ensure that the pet is right for you and your lifestyle but, most importantly, that you are right for the pet! We are absolutely commited to "no kill except when to do so is the humane alternative to suffering" so we are in no hurry to place an animal. If you want to adopt your dog within a few days, you might consider your county pound. We will investigate and prepare you and the animal for the best adoption possible. For more information, you certainly may call us between 9 am and 5 pm Monday through Saturday - 352-680-1707 or email the ranch at rainbowranchfl@msn.com.

Come Visit Us!

Tours are possible only when all the residents are in stable health. We schedule tours on Saturdays and Fridays. If you are interested in seeing all the special needs dogs and cats, please contact us for an appointment by calling 352-680-1707 or emailing us at rainbowranchfl@msn.com. We are sorry that we can't be open all the time for tours - there are too many very sick and old fur residents at our hospice. If you can't visit but wish to sponsor an animal by pledging $5.00 per month or more, go to our website and submit a Rainbow Angel form - we will be happy to provide you with a certificate as well as very frequent "penpal" communications with your furkid. All donations are tax-deductible under the regulations of the IRS. By the way, you can email any resident at Rainbow Ranch and our "dog whisperer and cat whisperer volunteers will help that furry resident email you right back! It is great fun even if the furkids don't type very well!
