Animal Rescue is in Need of Dog Food Donations Cat Litter
With the increase in animal surrenders due to the bad economy, the Sanctuary is in need of dog food donations to help feed all the animals residing at the Sanctuary until they are adopted. (Unfortunately this has become an on-going need as the stores that once donated ripped bags of food are also being hit with the bad economy and are now taping the bags and offering them for sale at a discounted rate instead of donating them to the Sanctuary).
Bags of food (currently using Retriever from Tractor Supply or Old Roy from WalMart, but ANY brand is appreciated and will be used) can be dropped off at the following locations: The Sanctuary, 20010 East SR 64, 34212 (leave at the front gate) (941) 750-8185; Tractor Supply, 4404 East
SR 64, (941) 748-2157; Sherrie's Furniture & Appliances, 5523 15th St. E, (941) 749-5837.; Ruff Cuts, 502 - 36th St. W., (941) 748-7833; and Bradenton Small Animal Hospital, 1324 17th Ave. W., (941) 746-2252.
Cat litter is also needed. Please donate the least expensive brand as the litter boxes are changed frequently so quantity is most important.

It is a licensed not-for-profit 501(c3) animal rescue that is operated in Agriculture Zoning, is permitted by Manatee County to have and operate kennels on the property and inspected by Manatee County Animal Services.
The Sanctuary is located in Bradenton, Florida.

MISSION: To provide a temporary home to homeless animals until a permanent adoptive home can be found. To provide a permanent home to animals that can not be adopted. Also to help educate the public about adopting and taking care of homeless animals to help the county in becoming a “no-kill”
community where no adoptable animal is euthanized just for lack of space and time.
The sanctuary relies on the generosity of the community to survive along with adoption donations of the animals. No other government funding or grants are received. The Sanctuary is run by volunteers - no paid employees.
CAN’T ADOPT NOW BUT STILL WANT TO HELP THE ANIMALS? DONATE!! Please mail donations to 20010 East SR 64, Bradenton, FL 34212 or anonymous cash donations can be dropped off at any Bank of America (Horse & Animal Sanctuary account).

Bags of dog/cat food or cat litter (currently using Old Roy from WalMart, but ANY brand is appreciated and will be used) can be dropped off at the following locations: The Sanctuary, 20010 East SR 64, 34212 (leave at the front gate) (941) 750-8185; Tractor Supply, 4404 East SR 64, (941) 748-2157; Sherrie’s Furniture & Appliances, 5523 15th St. E, (941) 749-5837.
Bags of horse food, beet pulp, alfalfa cubes and hay are needed for the horses. Most of the horses also need to be wormed and receive shots as they arrive as most are under fed and have never had the basic medical care provided to them. Credit card donations may be called in to Myakka Ranch & Farm Supply, (941) 322-1783 or mailed to 36140 SR 70 East, Myakka City, FL 34251.
Adopting a friend
Adoption donations help pay for emergency vet bills, shots, worming, spaying/neutering, microchipping, food, shelter, transportation, fees to save them from high-kill shelters, heartworm testing and monthly prevention. Some animals require more from sicknesses or some are unadoptable and need care for life. The Sanctuary needs all the donations an animal is able to bring in as the money is used for ALL the animals to provide the above services. While vet care is provided at reduced rates thanks to generous vets that work with us, it still is expensive!
ADOPTION DONATIONS: Most large mixed breed dogs are $150; most small mixed breed dogs are $399; most large mixed breed puppies are $185; most small mixed breed puppies are $299; and most purebred and/or CKC registered puppies are $555. Puppies require the most care starting with 1st shots at 6 weeks and will continue to receive age appropriate shots and worming until 12 weeks of age (or adoption), where at this time most puppies can be spayed/neutered, will have three sets of puppy shots including Rabies, de-wormed, microchipped for ID, on heartworm prevention and FREE 30-days pet insurance for unforseen illnesses.
HORSE ADOPTION DONATIONS: Most horses are $950; most drafts are $1,300; and most foals are $750 adoption donation.
Most people do not realize how expensive it is to save the life of a horse. Most of the horses come to the Sanctuary so skinny from lack of food and/or neglect that it takes a minimum of 6 months to just begin to look like a "real horse" again, are unwanted since they are seriously injured and no longer rideable or the owners can not afford to provide medical care for an illness. The vet visit for Coggins, shots including Rabies + West Nile, de-worming, microchipping plus add in the cost of feed, hay and supplements brings the cost up to approx. $1,600 spent to just make the horse healthy and available for adoption. (Drafts like to eat even more!)
