Who We Are

The Humane Society of Pensacola has served the community for more than fifty years. Our mission is to spread information about spaying and neutering, to prevent animal cruelty and abuse, and to provide pet education programs.

The Humane Society operates and maintains a "NO KILL" shelter and adoption center for homeless animals on private donations and fundraising activities. We receive no city, state or federal government funding. Our staff cares for the abandoned or neglected animals until they go to good homes.

Our knowledgeable staff and volunteers are always available to help you decide upon an animal companion for you and your lifestyle. We suggest that all members of a household be involved with the adoption, including existing animals in the household.

Maintaining a healthy, controllable pet population is essential to the quality of life in Pensacola. The Humane Society plays a major role in addressing the animal welfare issues in our community, and we are determined to make a difference. We also could not do it without our wonderful volunteers. If you have a little time you could spend with our friends, they really appreciate it, and so do we. We ask that volunteers be at least 18 years old, have reliable transportation, and can help us out every month.

Adopting a friend

GENERAL GUIDELINES

• You must be 21 years of age and have sufficient means to support a pet.
• Unaltered animals will not be adopted to out of state residents.
• Cats must be INDOOR pets.
• Families seeking to adopt a dog should have a suitable fenced-in yard.
• Renters must have a letter from their landlord stating that a pet is welcome.
• Adopted animals must be taken to the veterinarian for shots and an exam within three working days to complete the adoption process.
• We require other pets in the household to be neutered or spayed prior to completing the adoption.
• We require that all members of the household, dogs included, meet the new addition at our facility prior to adoption.

We reserve the right to refuse adoption.

ADOPTION FEE

• Dogs & Puppies are $75
• Cats & Kittens are $50 (all cats and kittens are spayed/neutered)
• Unaltered are $75 animals include a spay/neuter voucher. ($35 off)
• Senior Citizens Program (60and older) - altered animals are $60
• Senior Citizens Day is Tuesday! All pets over 1 year old are $50!
• Refunds - within three days and for medical reasons determined by a veterinarian.
