Happy Tail/Adopted Dogs

News

Updated September 10, 2008.

I'm Ursula. And I want YOU!!! I'm part Lab, and love to play. Come play with me, please. And let my foster family get some rest.

Check out HAPPY TAILS to see some of our adopted boys and girls!

"We lost our dog just before Christmas. Then we adopted this very special pooch. How could we resist!! What a personality and what a great dog. Anything that succeeds in helping to patch such a HUGE hole in our hearts must have been sent from above. “Thank You, God.”"

Want to adopt a "retired" shelter dog or retired racing greyhound? Take a look at these special boys and girls. Temperaments range from outgoing to shy to reserved, and play-all-the-time to sedate. Take a look at these beautiful eyes!

All dogs are HW negative, on monthly HW prevention, and on flea control. Up to date on vaccinations. Spayed/neutered. Our dogs live in our kennel or in foster homes until they find their "forever" homes.

Thank you everyone! Half the new dogs found homes already! Meanwhile, these dogs are waiting for just the right person to come along. Many different breeds and types available. A variety of temperaments. Everything from very shy to extremely outgoing and active. A dog for everyone.

Who We Are

Gator Greyts is a small foster/adoption program offering adult dogs for adoption. Most dogs enter the adoption program from the College of Veterinary Medicine or after "teaching" advanced laboratory courses to experienced veterinarians and vet techs at NAVC. They "teach" such courses as ultrasound, laproscopic spay, and endoscopy. Unfortunately, we do not have room to accept dogs from the public.

We work with retired racing greyhound adoption, as well as other breeds or mixes ("retired shelter dogs"). Check out our list of adoptable pets! Only one greyhound listed at this time, and he's lounging around the pool (supervised) in his foster home.

Gator Greyts encourages greyhound and other dog lovers to contribute to groundbreaking research at the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Florida. Veterinarians there are doing nutrition research to help all dogs, including retired greyhounds. For tax-deductable donation information, please contact Karen at scottk@vetmed.ufl.edu.

Thank you everyone! Half the dogs found homes already! The others are still looking for just the right home.

Adopting a friend

The dogs are always happy to "interview" prospective families.

Donate a
Bed

Our dogs love to sleep on Kuranda beds, but we don't have enough for everyone. To help ease the transition to a "forever" home, we like to send each dog's own bed home with them. This means each group of dogs needs new beds. If you would like to donate a bed at a special wholesale price for a another dog to sleep in comfort, please click here.
