The Humane Society is currently working on Low-Cost Spay/Neuter for residents of Levy County. This program is solely funded on donations from private individuals and events the Society participates in.
If you are resident of Levy County and can provide proof that you are receiving one of the following: Medicaid, Food Stamps, SSI, WIC or another form of assistance, we encourage you to apply for our program. Applications can be downloaded at www.humanesocietyoflevycounty.com. If you apply, please be aware that there is a waiting list as applications are completed when funds are available. The Low-Cost Spay/Neuter Program will be in effect from October 1, 2011 thru October 1, 2012.
In addition, the Humane Society is offering a reduced membership rate for $5.00. Memberships are effective at a reduced rate from August 31, 2011 thru August 31, 2012. No pro-rates.
What has the Humane Society done?
The Humane Society has received two Florida Animal Friend Grants which were applied for in April of 2008 and April 2010. Funds were utilized during the time frame of August 2008 thru August 31, 2009 and August 2010 thru August 31, 2012. During those years, the Humane Society completed 844 spays and neuter.
In addition, the Humane Society has NO PAID STAFF on hand. Every board member and volunteer members ALL DONATE their time to our organization.

The purpose of the "Society" is to provide foster care, adoptions and/or placement of animals that the "Society" rescues from any animal facility within Levy County. Funds will be used to facilitate the needs of rescued animals. The "Society" also will provide education on the topics of animal care, spay/neuter, animal cruelty and general animal welfare. The mission of the "Society" is to encourage humane care treatment to all animals.
A Mission Statement is defined as an organizations goals and objectives. The Humane Society with dedicated and responsible individuals are working hard to fulfill these goals and objectives one day at a time. By being physically responsible with our current funds and understanding the long term goals of the Society, we are moving forward to see the mission statement fulfilled within the Society's means.
