Suntree-Viera Pet Rescue
We hold adoptions at PetSmart on Evans Rd. in Melbourne every weekend from 12:00 - 4:00pm and at Petco in Viera (next to Walmart) every weekend from 12:30 - 4:00pm. Come by and see some of our adoptable animals. Please note that we cannot bring every animal with us every time we attend adoptions. So if you really want to meet that particular pet, please contact the foster parent in advance. Thank you!
FEATURED PETS...
Patches and Shadow are about 3-1/2 years old and two of the saddest looking kitties you’ll meet (at least for now, they are). When they were taken in to foster care about 6 weeks ago, they were suffering from severe flea-bite allergy. There skin was covered with bites and sores and their coats almost gone. They are much, much better now. Their skin is clear and their coats are growing back in, but it’s a slow process. They are brother and sister and both very sweet. Patches loves to sit in your lap, or near wherever you are, and looks deep into your eyes just to show he loves you. He’ll talk to you, too. Shadow is a little more reserved, but she does come when called and likes to be petted. She doesn’t like to be picked up, though. She has the sweetest little “meow”. Patches and Shadow are very close to each other and will need to stay together. They are available as a pair for a reduced adoption fee. Another "Featured Kitty" is...Smokey! Smokey is a sweet dilute torti manx (no tail), about 6 years old, who was rescued from the county shelter. She was brought in there because her owner developed Alzheimer's and could no longer care for her - so his family dumped poor Smokey and her sister there. While she was at the county shelter, she escaped from her cage and hid in the ceiling in the storeroom until we came and rescued her. Her sister was not that lucky. Smokey is a sweet and affectionate girl who loves to be petted. She will twirl all around while you are petting her - probably to show off her taillessness! She gets along OK with other kitties. She would love to find that forever family to love her!

Because of so many irresponsible pet owners here in Brevard County, the number of unwanted pets seems to be at an all-time high. Unfortunately, we can't take in every animal needing placement as we do not have a shelter and our foster volunteers’ homes are usually full to overflowing!

If you would like to adopt a cat or dog or become a foster family, do not hesitate to contact us. If you would like to make a monetary donation, you can send it to the address below. If you would like to donate food and supplies ( bleach, paper towels, litter), you can drop it off at Petco in Viera or Petsmart in Melbourne on the weekends. We can use and appreciate any pet related supplies.
WHO WE ARE
Suntree Viera Pet Rescue is a no-kill, non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Our main goal is to alleviate the pain and suffering of all animals. Specifically, we support the reduction of feral cat colonies through the effective Trap Neuter Return (TNR) method. We also strongly advocate the spaying and neutering of all animals prior to adoption to prevent unwanted litters. Furthermore, we are active in the adoption of abandoned cats and dogs, as well as animals rescued from the shelters.
ADOPTING A FRIEND
Please Note: Because of increased expenses, our minimum adoption fee for cats is now $85 - still a bargain considering all cats adopted through SVPR are neutered/spayed, tested for FIV/FelV, have their age-appropriate vaccines and have been treated for internal and external parasites.
Potential adoptees must complete an adoption application and be approved. Our MINIMUM adoption fees are $85 and up for cats and $150 AND UP for dogs. All animals are vet checked, spayed/neutered, current on age-appropriate vaccines and free of internal and external parasites. Cats are tested for Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS and dogs 8 months and older are tested for heartworm.
If you are interested in an animal that is listed on the SVPR site here on PetFinder and would like to see the animal, please contact the foster parent by phone or email to make arrangements as we cannot bring all of our fosters to Petco or PetSmart every weekend. Also, please note that most of the foster parents work full time jobs and are not always able to respond to your inquiry immediately. If you send an e-mail or leave a voice mail, please allow at least a day for a response. Thank you for your patience!
