Jefferson County Humane Society, Inc.

Our Adoptable Pet List

The pets in our care are always changing, so please keep checking this site for additional information and new animals to be added. In the meantime, please feel free to stop by and see us at our shelter in Monticello or on the 1st and 3rd Sundays at Petsmart in Tallahassee, or contact us by phone (850-342-0244) or http://www.jeffersonhumane.org/contact.html.

Interested in a puppy or kitten? Puppies and kittens are often adopted out very quickly, so many of them are not with us long enough to be featured on our web site. Please call the JCHS shelter directly and we can let you know what is currently available for adoption!

Wanted:

News

Jefferson County Humane Society volunteers operate thrift shops in Monticello to help generate funds for the animals at the Shelter. Wag the Dog Thrift Shop is located at 315 N. Jefferson St., Monticello, FL. We are open at this location on Thursday and Friday from 12 noon to 4 pm, and Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm. A second location about a block away at 235 N. Jefferson St. was opened recently and is open Fridays from noon to 4 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm. Gently used and new donated items are accepted during normal operating hours at either location. Come to check out the bargains and help save a homeless cat or dog in the process!!

Adoption Booths

JCHS adoption booths are hosted by Petsmart in Tallahassee on Capital Circle NE, next to Home Depot. Visit our pets and volunteers every 1st and 3rd Sunday (check with shelter for exact dates) from 11 am to 4 pm.

If there is a specific animal you are interested in, please call the shelter at (850) 342-0244 before the booth so that we can ensure that we bring that particular animal with us.

Note: As a general rule, because of the limited space at our shelter, we cannot hold any animals for you. Rather, they are adopted out to loving homes as those homes become available. Please call or visit us in Monticello or at Petsmart as soon as possible if you are interested in a particular animal.

Please keep in mind that even if you cannot adopt an animal right now, the Jefferson County Humane Society needs volunteers for a variety of activities, including working adoption booths! Please, feel free to contact us about joining our force of wonderful volunteers.
