Our Adoptable Pet ListClick here to see our Happy Tails! Our Featured Pet...About usAn average of 40 dogs and 20 cats can be housed at the shelter. Every animal admitted to the shelter receives medical care, a warm safe environment in which to heal and learn to trust, and much love to aid in preparation for being adopted. The programs are made possible by caring people who provide donations and adoptions which keep the doors open. Stray animals should be reported to and found animals should be dropped off at Animal Control. Some anxious owner might be waiting to be reunited with his/her pet. Drop off cages for dogs and cages for cats are available at the entrance of the Shelter for after-hours use. If you've lost an animal, please contact Animal control immediately to fill out a lost and found report. To report vicious, nuisance or abused domestic animals please contact Animal Control at 926-0902. About Chat of Wakulla, the supporting organization for the Wakulla Animal Shelter! The Citizens for Humane Animal Treatment of Wakulla, Inc., known as CHAT of Wakulla are a not-for-profit, charitable corporation. We are a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Our Articles of Incorporation were filed on August 8, 2001. We are committed to improving the health, safety, and well-being of domesticated animals in our community. Our roots are in the former Wakulla Humane Society, an organization that had been active for over 30 years. Our activities include: shelter volunteer work, fostering dogs and cats, fund-raising, animal rehabilitation, spay/neuter campaigns and education activities. Wakulla is one of the fasted growing counties in Florida . Growth brings problems of lost, stray, nuisance, or vicious animals, as well as pet overpopulation. Whether you enjoy fund raising, animal rehabilitation, spending time with lonely dogs and cats, or simply want to make a monetary contribution, your help is greatly appreciated. The Board of Directors for 2010 CHAT receives monies through the adoptions, donations, benefits and memberships and Grants. We also make some monies through the sale of leads, collars and carriers. The County budget is limited and CHAT is trying to fill the gap. All of our funds are used for the benefit of the animal shelter. We pay for all the dog food at the shelter. We purchase equipment such as a slide-in-unit for the Animal Control Truck, a horse trailer, stainless steel cages, washing machines and many other items. CHAT built a barn for horses, goats, sheep, pigs and other livestock that enter the facility. You can find us at :www.chatofwakulla.org> Wish List>The shelter thrives on donations which are tax deductible! While gifts of money are always welcome, there are many items on our wish list that would be just as appreciated. Items that are especially needed are marked with an "asterisk."
