Our Featured Pet Hello Our featured pet is Sporty, a whippet jack russell mix. He is about 4 years young and neutered. Sporty loves to play ball and would be great for someone with older children or for a single person willing to spend quality time with him. He tends towards submissive behavior(cowering and checking his pee pee, etc.) and while he gets on well with most dogs he prefers to be placed with another dog that is not overpowering. He does well in his crate and should be left in a crate- where he feels more secure- when someone is not home. Sporty was found emaciated and scared weighing in at 16 pounds. He is closer to his ideal weight now (approx 30lbs). Hello and welcome to A Pet for Life rescue for small dogs and puppies of(sometimes unknown parentage). Did you know that every day across the country many thousands of pets are euthanized. We can reduce these numbers by opening our homes to one more pet, by making sure our own pets are spayed/neutered, by making sure we have identifications tags on our pets should they get out, and by keeping our pets indoors except when they can be supervised by us. A Pet for Life has continued to be fortunate in finding many loving adoptive homes. Unfortunately, we have had to tighten up on our adoption process and we will now be conducting home visits. I apologize for the lack of photos for some of the pets. We are doing our best to provide you with photos but in the meantime please feel free to come by and see any that you might be interested in. An initial phone screening will be necessary before viewing.

Who We Are

A Pet for Life rescue hopes to educate our children so that they will grow up with a love and respect for all creatures who depend on their human caretakers. The founder of A Pet for Life is not new to rescue having founded Greyhound Lifeline in 1987 to rehabilitate and place retired greyhounds. We rescue 'small' dogs and puppies of any breed.

Adopting a friend

Adopting a pet is a serious long term committment. When we find a home for one of our pets we intend for that home to be it's last stop. Many of the pets that come into our hands have suffered enough in their short lives that we hope to find them security for the remainder of their days. Making a commitment to your pet is a must so that no matter what problems you may encounter you will do your best to find solutions so that your pet can remain with you. Pets may have behavior issues that you will have to work with and your patience may be tried. Also, pets may suffer an illness or injury that will require you to make a monetary sacrifice. So that "free" or "inexpensive" pet may incur more cost than you had planned on. Are you ready and able to have a pet become part of your family? If you are interested in one of our pets for adoption, contact us and we will communicate with you via email and/or phone. We have an application process that includes getting a reference from your vet. and we will have to meet with you at least once before we make a decision. If we are unable to spay/neuter a pet beforehand because they are too young, you will be required to do so and we will maintain a right to reclaim that pet if you fail to do so in a timely manner. There is an adoption fee associated with each pet that varies from pet to pet. These adoption fees help us to pay for veterinary expenses, food, bedding, cages, and any other expenses assoc. with caring for pets. A Pet for Life is not incorporated, nonprofit, or affiliated with any other group. We receive no grants. Expenses are covered by the adoption fees and the founder's own funds. Non-monetary donations of any kind(every little bit helps!) are greatly appreciated. Volunteers are needed to help socialize the dogs so if you have time - even sporadically - please give me a call. if you are local ,you may drop off food/litter/bedding/paper towels etc. at 9700 domino road milton fl 32583.
