Who We Are

Chihuahua Rescue and Transport (CRT) is a nonprofit, voluntary organization. We have no paid employees. We are dedicated to rescue, adoption and the medical care of stray and homeless Chihuahuas in need, and to help control the growing overpopulation through spaying and neutering all dogs in our care. Chihuahua Rescue and Transport is not a shelter, but a group of volunteer foster homes. The chihuahuas are kept in a home, as a member of the family. This helps to better evaluate them in order to find the perfect "forever" home for them.

Adopting a friend

If you wish to adopt a dog from CRT, please visit www.chihuahua-rescue.com and fill out an application for adoption. We require a vet check and a home visit. In order to qualify for adoption, your pets must be altered, current on vaccinations, and be on heartworm preventative. We do NOT adopt to homes with intact animals. We also require an informal home visit by a CRT representative. Once the vet check and the home visit have been completed, the information goes to the board for approval. We do not hold animals for adoption. The prospective adopter must be ready to adopt the dog when the application is completed. We also do not adopt on a first come, first serve basis. Our goal at CRT is to place our dogs into forever homes. We want our dogs to go to the best suited home for them. We also reserve the right to deny adoption. A Few Points To Remember: Every Chihuahua will not fit into every household. It is left to the discretion of the Regional Coordinator as to whether to approve a placement. We do not adopt out dogs to be given as gifts. If someone you know would like a Chihuahua, have that person fill out the application form. You could offer to pay the adoption fee if you would like it to be a "gift."
