Adoption Screening Preview: Thank you for considering Pinellas County Animal Services for your adoption choice. Here are some tips for a smooth adoption. * All pets in your home must be current with their rabies vaccinations and county licenses. *In order to be approved for an adoption, the address can have no more than a total of five (5) dogs and/or cats including the adoption pet. *Only one person from your party may apply for adoption of a specific pet. *Property owner approval must be obtained prior to adoption. *If you recently lost your pet (ran away), you must look for it at our facility once a week for 30 days before adopting. *Status of all household pets must be current in our database. If status of two or more of your pets has to be changed at the time of the adoption, you will need to wait 30 days. For example, if previously owned pets are deceased, lost, or given away, their status must be changed in our database. This must be done at the time of the incident, please do not wait till adoption time to update your information. *Certain breeds (such as Chows, Pit Bulls, Rottweilers or mixes) may have restrictions in some homes with children. *Some of the adoption pets here have not yet been sterilized as required by law. This requires pick up at a later time after sterilization surgery has been performed and your pet is stable enough to go home. In some cases, other restrictions may occur.
