Hi! Our names are LARS and LEVI, Sweet, sweet little guys that are really quite smart. He and his brother learned to use the doggie door in one day and now enjoy coming and going into the yard. They've done nicely learning house training but as puppies, they still make little mistakes. They have paper in the pen at night just for safety sake. They are both so cute with big stand-up ears, long little bodies and shot little legs, but they sure can travel. Both have sweet and loving personalities, great with other dogs and puppies, as well as great with adults and children.
WE ADVOCATE ZERO TOLERANCE TOWARD ABUSE! PLEASE SPAY & NEUTER YOUR PETS! OVER 8 MILLION DOGS IN THE USA WILL BE EUTHANIZED OR GASSED THIS YEAR. WHAT A HORRIBLE THOUGHT AND WASTE.

Due in part to the current real estate market and foreclosure crisis here in Florida, Heidi's Legacy: Dog Rescue has been filled beyond capacity. However, we would be happy to help you re-home an animal by offering a courtesy post on Petfinder IF IT MEETS OUR REQUIREMENTS. (Your dog must be spayed/neutered and have a sound temperament).
If you are willing to continue caring for your pet until a suitable new home can be found or until a foster home can be found, please contact us right away and DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE. You have to realize that companion animals are loosing their homes/families by the hundreds. We will do what we can do to help but even finding foster homes has become difficult. We will be happy to help. We hate seeing dogs being put down in the shelters due to space considerations.

We are so proud to be able to say that ever since we announced that our dogs pick their new families, not visa versa, many other shelters and rescues have adopted this philosophy. Although humans initiate the meeting, it is our dogs that make the final decision who they want to live with and give their love to. When we see that our dog is not interacting well with a potential adopter, the dog stays with us until his/her right family comes along. Our dogs live in our foster family homes as if there were part of the family, interacting with everyone and everything. They are not living in crates stacked upon crates. We evaluate our dogs before they are adopted to make sure that they are well rounded to be placed in home. When we see our dogs' eyes light up when they meet that certain someone, then we know we have done our job right. Unconditional love is the key.
WHO WE ARE
Heidi's Legacy is an organization worked by people that LOVE and RESPECT animals. If a life can be saved, we will do what needs to be done. Humans have yet to tap into the magnificent resources these animals possess. It has been proven that dogs can detect cancer and seizures in humans LONG before any machine can. We must be open to learn. We want to save as many lives as possible so they can make the lives of others as happy as they are making ours. Spay & Neuter is a MUST to stop the killing of homeless animals. Gas chambers used to suffocate animals to death in a horrifying way MUST be outlawed across our nation. Hitler gassed humans, are we not more civilized? Heidi's Legacy was formed in 2002 as a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) charitable organization. ALL CONTRIBUTIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are 100% voluntary with no salaries. We were formed in honor of Heidi, a marvelous German Shepherd girl that died suddenly after being with us only 5.5 months. She was abandoned and left to die in the country. Heidi's Legacy is an all breed rescue that depends on your contributions. We house as many as we can, but desperately need foster homes. It is painful to turn away a pet in need because we know what its fate most likely will be. Please become a foster parent. One dog at a time is all that it will take. These lives are precious. All dogs belong IN the home for interaction as a family member. Do not apply to adopt one of our dogs if it will not live in your home with you as a family member, or other dogs that you currently have are being kept outside. We do not tolerate chaining a dog outside. You will never be sorry for saving a life because that life will make your life so much more worth while! Try it!
