Ready to Adopt?

To apply for one of our cats or kittens, our adoption application can be downloaded from www.pawsfla.com. Click on either of the adoption tabs. Then at the top of the page, you will see the file to download. The application will be reviewed by seasoned foster moms - we want to be sure you get matched up with the right kitty!

Donations

PAWS is a non-profit, so your donations are tax deductible. Please specify (if you want) which cat you want the donation to go toward. Thank you!

Our Foster Moms Are The Best!

Foster care expenses are often handled by the foster moms, because the adoption fees of $75 per animal just do not cover extra expenses such as dentals, feeding tubes, medication, etc. Every little bit helps, and our foster moms appreciate your donations!

See below for some of the stories where kitties required extra care - the foster moms pay most of these expenses.

Our Wish List

If you prefer to donate directly to our vet accounts, feel free!
  • Coastal Animal Hospital, 321-632-3800
  • Piedmont Animal Hospital, 407-880-7387

If you would like to provide supplies, we always can use scooping litter. Our top choices for litter are:

  • Scoop Away
  • Cat's Pride (MULTI cat formula please)

    Prescription foods:

  • Science Diet canned a/d

    Thanks!

    Ladybelle and Haley

Ladybelle and Haley came from an "overbreeding" house. A lady took in every stray, yet could not afford vet care. Population explosions took place and the kittens would be taken to a local kill shelter. Eventually the gene pool started to show deformities from inbreeding, and the local kill shelter informed the lady that the kittens would be killed because of the deformities.

An in-law looked for other shelters to help, and that's how PAWS became involved. Two of our vet techs went to the home, the first of many, many trips to that home. On the first trip they tested all the adults for Feline Leukemia, and also took a "count" of cats. The best count (with the help of the 12-year old daughter) was 59 ... yes 59 cats/kittens in one house...one litterpan.....we quickly set up 3 more pans! The cats were getting into the pans as we poured in the litter. They were "holding" it as long as they could, obviously!

We got on the phone, got foster homes and vet appointments as fast as we could. Within 3 weeks all the breeding-age cats were fixed, kittens were in foster care, nursing moms were in foster care, and adoptions were underway.

Ladybelle and Haley are the last 2 PAWS fosters from this home. We are pretty sure they are siblings. Both Ladybelle and Haley now have had all their teeth extracted, which is an expensive procedure (about $400 per cat). They are able to eat just fine now. Many people ask - how do they chew their food? One of our favorite vets (Dr. Levy at UF Veterinary College) says - if you have ever cleaned up kitty barf, you will realize they barely chew their food anyway!! LOL!! Haley and Ladybelle are doing fine after their surgeries which were done several months ago. They are ready to adopt!

    Jet

Jet had an allergic reaction to the anesthesia during his neuter (age 3 months) and died during surgery. His brain was without oxygen, so he is now brain damaged. Jet can walk, run, feed himself, use the litterpan, groom somewhat, and lap water. Jet can climb (not jump) onto the bed...plus he "walks off" the edge of the bed (not jumps) a bit ungracefully, but unharmed... so we got him some stairs!!! His left ear has about 30% hearing, and he has some peripheral vision in each eye, and some forward vision in his right eye. Jet's favorite room in the house is the guest bedroom, where the carpet has just been replaced (again, sigh!).

New carpet remnants are DESPERATELY needed!! Jet (above) is not always the greatest at using the litterpan!! Please contact Mona at meowmail1@gmail.com. Thanks!
