ATTENTION PREVIOUS ADOPTERS

If you find you are no longer able to keep the cat(s) you adopted from us for whatever reason, most likely the poor economy, remember we will always take back one of our cats. Even though we are no longer in Florida, you can still reach us by calling 601-947-1959 or emailing us at lkrice@yahoo.com and we will make arrangements to return the cat(s) to us in Mississippi. We hope this won't be necessary, but just in case... Our old email address, softpawprints@yahoo.com was somehow disabled by yahoo and I can't remember the piece of information it takes to get in so please contact us at lkrice@yahoo.com instead.

UPDATE FOR INJURED BLOODHOUND

Beauregard was struck by a hit and run driver on a country road. Fortunately, a good Samaritian saw what happened and stopped for him. He checked nearby homes and when he couldn't find Beau's home, he took Beau to the local Veternarian. The Vet office couldn't find anyone who knew Beau, so they only did the bare minimum to get him by and then Beauregard got lucky! One of the Vet Tech's texted Southeast Bloodhound Rescue in Atlanta, GA, and they got in touch with their local representative(that would be me, LOL). I immediately contacted the Vet office and made arrangements to get Beau. They said Beau has a fractured pelvis, had a big hole in his left rear leg muscle (which they stapled) and numerous cuts and scrapes, to include a broken fang which was still bleeding 2 days after I picked him up. Immediately upon picking him up in a little town close to Gulfport, I took Beau to my Vet in Petal, MS. Beau was in a lot of pain from his injuries, he has to be keeped quiet for at least 8 weeks, No running, jumping, getting excited, or flirting with the girls, because the hairline fracture could easily become a compound fracture and result in a much more serious outcome. He can't put weight on his injured leg,so it is very difficult to get him ouside to the bathroom, and keep the leg from becoming further damaged due to inactivity. He gets massagued at 3 times a day and now thinks he has his own personal butler! Beau could be the Bloodhound poster child for the spay/neuter campaign. He is young, gorgeous, and an intact male.
UPDATE: Some very generous people donated enough money for Beau to have the surgery he so badly needed. He will have that surgery tomorrow. Thank you!
