Applications continue to be accepted in order to place dogs quickly once they enter our rescue program. We urge those interested in adopting one of our dogs to submit an application as early as possible, as many of our dogs are matched with potential adopters already on file.
Who We Are
Magnolia Setter Rescue - Florida is a network of volunteers who protect and promote the Setter breeds (Gordon, Irish, English, and Irish Red & White). Our mission is to help save Setter lives throughout the State of Florida and in many other states that we are able to cover. As Setter fanciers, we strive to take care of our Setter friends who unfortunately, from time to time, get placed in the wrong home, are lost, or are unwanted because they no longer fit the family setting for one reason or another. Our foster families take these dogs into their homes, evaluate and get them ready for rehoming. Our Coordinator, Bonnie Foster, is also the Irish Setter Club of America Rescue Coordinator for Region 3, which includes NC, SC, GA, FL, AL, MS, LA, TX, OK, AR, & TN, and KY in Region 2.
WE ARE THE OFFICIAL RESCUE GROUP OF THE IRISH SETTER CLUB OF AMERICA FOR THESE AREAS.
Adopting a friend
An adoption application is required to assist us in matching you with the right dog for your lifestyle. We ask for a vet reference, and a home visit may be required. All of our rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, current on vaccinations, heartworm tested--and treated if necessary--and on heartworm prevention, parasite free, and microchipped or tattooed for permanent identification. We require that all of our dogs be house dogs. Setters do not do well being outside-only dogs. If the placement does not work out, we require that the dog be returned to our program. Our adoption fee ranges from $200 to $300. Your donation will assist us in continuing our essential and successful rescue/adoption program.

** Providing high quality medical care for our rescued Setters is expensive. The cost of vaccinations, routine procedures such as spays and neuters, and tests continues to increase. For those special-needs Setters requiring additional medical treatment - kennel cough, pneumonia, heartworm disease, extensive dental problems, diabetes, chronic otitis, enteropathies, hypothyroidism, tumors, orthopedic problems, specialized diagnostic procedures, and surgery - the expenses mount. Each Setter is a cherished member of our rescue family, and their foster families are committed to providing the best care for them. Please help us in our mission to *Rescue, *Rehabilitate, and *Rehome Setters by making a donation to sponsor a Setter. We can accept funds through PayPal via the "Donate" button, or you can visit the "Donations" page on our Magnolia Setter Rescue - Florida website if you'd like to make your contribution in honor, or memory, of a loved one. Thanks for supporting Rescue!
Come Visit Us!
We use foster homes for each Setter who enters our program, therefore we do not maintain any centralized shelter facilities. Because of this, you may be asked to drive to pick up your new family member or meet someone part of the way. Volunteers and foster parents put a lot into the recovery of these wonderful dogs. They do it for the love of the breed and are not compensated for food or time. Therefore, we ask that you take the extra step (or mile). This doesn't mean we won't make every effort to make this convenient for you, but the dog is always our priority.
