Pattycake Finds Her Forever Home

Sweet Sassy Gets Love & Affection
We adopted Sassafras, Sassy for short, a special needs dog as she had been attacked when she was just a baby. She had serious injuries and despite all that, only wanted to be held and loved on.

On Saturday, December 04, 2010, the sun was out and the Christmas Parade began. Southeast Volusia County Humane Society decorated their van with garland, bulbs, lights, and wrapping paper. You could feel “Christmas” in the air. It came not by snowflakes falling to the ground or the temperature below 32 degrees, but instead, there was music in the air, bands playing, horses trotting, Santa hats atop many heads, floats being put together, and hustle and bustle which all began at the end of Flagler St. by the beach. The parade was even better this year.

What is all this hustle and bustle that I am talking about? It’s our new overnight holding pens. We certainly needed a new look in the front lawn of the shelter. The new holding pens are bigger, safer, warmer, roomier, and much nicer looking. Tom takes a few scraps of donated lumber, fencing, and this and that and re-builds to make things look awesome. Also, thank you to Bob B. and Justin for volunteering your time and hard work to help Tom make our shelter look it’s very best.
