When we got Skye from Miami-Dade Animal Services, he was a mess. Excruciatingly thin (tall yet only 41 lbs.), he was matted to the skin, which we clipped and shaved. It took 2 of us about 10 hours to clip and clean. Yet he stood or lay down without a peep for the whole ordeal. He is a really gentle, sweet, good boy. Skye is learning how to play with other dogs. He does play well with his foster brother who will chase Skye. BUT CAN GET OVERLY EXCITED. He has made incredible improvements, He can now walk past other dogs, cats, people, children on bikes, and he does not go crazy. As of mid Oct. a report from his foster mom....." he has learned to fetch, knows sit and stay, working on down and stand now. He knows down from sit position. He also knows wait, does not run out the door when it is opened, provided no dogs are walking by. He is learning good house manners, no problem with pottying outside. He lets you know when it is time to go. He is a countersurfer and likes to tear paper up from the office waste basket, or he will grab a discarded meat container from the kitchen and carry it to his bed. These are all behaviors that are working on, he is a fast learner. He is very sweet, sometimes will grab a shoe by the sofa, and take it back to his bed, softly mouthing it then resting his head on it to sleep. He is very, very sweet and only wants to please you, he has come such a long way. He is also gorgeous. He is crate trained but not penned when left alone, and he has done fine with that." He is scheduled for neutering shortly. Adoption requirements: No young children. LARGE fenced area required. Due to his activity level we prefer to place Skye in a home where they will continue with his training, A farm setting where he will be trained to herd, or an experienced trainer who will participate in performance activities with Skye.

Give fostering a try...and save the life of a homeless collie!
Families and local shelters contact us to take unwanted or stray collies. Collies, who may otherwise be destroyed at an over-crowded shelter, are temporarily placed with a Foster Family until a Forever Family is found. We only ask that the Foster Family provide the collie with food, shelter and love. We pay any needed medical expenses.
A Foster Home Application will be posted shortly. contact us for an application
