WELCOME TO LEVY COUNTY ANIMAL SERVICES (LCAS)

The Levy County Animal Services Center is an Animal Shelter that takes in unwanted or stray dogs and cats. Animals that come to our shelter have to be held at least 3 business days (unless owner released) to give an owner a chance to claim it. If staff determines an animal is aggressive, injured or sick this could be less. We encourage all animal owners to identify your pets with the owners name and telephone number, rabies tag, or implanted micro chip. We do scan pets when they arrive at the shelter so we can reunite pet and owner. Please Note: We are not a boarding facility for the general public. All transactions such as adoption, impounding, kennel fees, etc. are cash payment only-we do NOT accept checks or cards. Our information brochure will give you more information about LCAS and can be downloaded from this website (below). If you are owner releasing an animal please download the LCAS Owner Release Form from this website (below). Complete the form and hand it in with the animal(s).

ALL adoptions are CASH ONLY...NO checks or cards. Adoptions include a voucher for SPAY/NEUTER and RABIES VACCINATION, if they are NOT already spayed or neutered. All Animals that are adopted or rescued from the Levy County Animal Services are required by Florida Law to be SPAYED/ NEUTERED and RABIES VACCINATED. This must be completed within 30 days from adoption.

You must be at least 18 years old to adopt an animal from our shelter.

Our pet list is current; animals available for adoption. Usually we do not update an animal on our list until it's been in our shelter for 3 business days; unless it's an owner release. Please call our office before coming to the shelter to adopt to make sure that animal is still available for adoption.

Our adoption brochure is available on this site to download (below).

Our adoptions fees are: (CASH ONLY)

Male Dog = $70.00

Female Dog = $85.00

Male Cat = $55.00

Female Cat = $70.00

If an animal is already spayed or neutered and has a current rabies vaccination; the cost of the adoption = $20.00

RESCUE ORGANIZATIONS ARE WELCOMED!

Levy County Animal Services is a rescue friendly shelter. We welcome rescue organizations to assist us with the placement of healthy adoptable pets. The requirements are described in our Placement Partner Agreement. Rescues wishing a Placement Partner Agreement can download it from this website (below) or call Lena Hooker at our office and she will email it or fax it to you. Please make sure you call our office before coming to rescue an animal in case the animal is no longer at the shelter.

Thanks to Petfinder.org and the rescue groups that have come forward to assist in rehoming these animals. Your help has greatly reduced our euthanasia rates. Levy County is growing in leaps and bounds and Levy County Animal Services is attempting to expand its needs to those that we serve.

A BIG THANK YOU TO JODY HEFLIN!!!! She's with Western Region of Second Chance Rescue. In the last year she has rescued over 446 dogs and cats! WOW! Without her outstanding dedication to our shelter a lot of dogs and cats would not have made it out of here. If you are interested in donating, fostering, assisting with transportation or anything else contact Miss Jody at heflinj@bellsouth.net.
