News

--- ITEM #1 --- We are thrilled to announce the opening of our Kitty Fix Co-Op, a once-a-month, roving, low-cost, high quality, spay/neuter surgery clinic. Our first clinic will be at the Bridgeville Fire Station on Saturday, March 27, and registration will be open from 8:30 to 9:30. PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED, through the email address at the bottom of our website. We are primarily accepting the State of Delaware Dept. of Agriculture Spay/Neuter Program certificates (see Item #2, below), but a limited number of surgeries are available to the general public, at the low cost of $30 / male neuter, $60 / female spay, $10 / Rabies Shot, and $3 / State Surcharge Tax. People wishing to volunteer for this co-op will receive a substantial further discount.

---ITEM #2--- $20 spay/neuter certificates are available for those who qualify as Low-Income, through the DE Dept. of Agriculture, please call 698-4567, or (800) 282-8685, for more information about the "State Spay / Neuter Program".

--- ITEM #3 --- Our next Rabies & Distemper Vaccination Clinic will be a Saturday in spring of 2010, from 10 AM to 12 Noon, probably at the Seaford Volunteer Fire Station on Cannon Street, between King and Poplar Streets. $13 for each Rabies shot and $10 for each Distemper or Parvo shot. CASH ONLY. Leashes & Carriers Required.

--- ITEM #4 --- Our Kitten Protocol: Kittens should receive their first 'distemper' shots at about 6 weeks old, which we estimate by their weight of 1 lb., 8 ounces. This is the same time frame that we recommend the mother to be spayed, to prevent the next pregnancy, which can happen even while the kittens are weaning off of nursing.

---- ITEM #5 --- Our "Wish List": A cat-loving landlord willing to allow us, as a 501(c)(3) Tax-Exempt Organization, to use their vacant building as our spay/neuter center, so that we can open 2 or more days a month! Almost any location in western Sussex County would be great!

----ITEM #6 --- Watch here for upcoming news.

Who We Are

We are a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) All-Volunteer All-Spay/Neuter No-Kill Cat Rescue Organization. As we do not yet have a public facility in which we can meet with the public and their kitties, we function as a co-operative, serving the needs of our Helpers in our homes, primarily from Seaford and Western Sussex County. Our purpose is to further the process of Delaware becoming a No-Kill state, through the twin goals of 1) reducing cat procreation / overpopulation, and 2) reducing the euthanizing of cats and kittens, especially those that are tame and healthy. We facilitate adoptions of kittens, which are spayed or neutered at 8 weeks of age, prior to adoption. To further serve the community, we sponsor at least one annual low-cost Rabies & Distemper Vaccination Clinic, which serves as fund-raisers to support our rescue efforts. We are always seeking fun ways to raise funds. Our future goals include a kitten adoption facility, a cat retirement home, a low-cost spay/neuter surgery center, and a feral cat sanctuary. We are building a network of cat rescuers in Sussex County, and always welcome new volunteers! People that can participate either on a continual basis or just every so often, from a few hours a week to one day a year, could be of great assistance to our efforts! If you are interested in becoming a Helper, either by donating and/or volunteering, please contact us!
