Misty Blue is looking for LOVE! She's a quiet gal, looking for a senior citizen's lap to call home!
--- ITEM #1 --- watch here for our next Rabies & Distemper Vax Clinic
---ITEM #2--- Low-income spay/neuter certificates are available through the DE Dept. of Agriculture, please call 698-4567 for more information about the "State Spay / Neuter Program".
--- ITEM #3 --- Our next meeting will be at the Seaford Library, in the Community Room, on Wednesday, July 8, at 7 PM.
--- ITEM #4 --- Our Wish List: Kitty Transport Vehicle (hatchback, station wagon, minivan) in good running condition, must have room for 10 to 20 cat carriers, good AC and heat. We also would like a clean used camping trialer to convert into a surgery center.
We are a Non-Profit 501(c)(3) All-Volunteer All-Spay/Neuter No-Kill Cat Rescue Organization. As we do not yet have a public facility in which we can meet with the public and their kitties, we function as a co-operative, serving the needs of our Helpers in our homes, primarily from Seaford and Western Sussex County. Our purpose is to further the process of Delaware becoming a No-Kill state, through the twin goals of 1) reducing cat procreation / overpopulation, and 2) reducing the euthanizing of cats and kittens, especially those that are tame and healthy. We facilitate adoptions of kittens, which are spayed or neutered at 8 weeks of age, prior to adoption. To further serve the community, we sponsor at least one annual low-cost Rabies & Distemper Vaccination Clinic, which serves as fund-raisers to support our rescue efforts. We are always seeking fun ways to raise funds. Our future goals include a kitten adoption facility, a cat retirement home, a low-cost spay/neuter surgery center, and a feral cat sanctuary. We are building a network of cat rescuers in Sussex County, and always welcome new volunteers! People that can participate either on a continual basis or just every so often, from a few hours a week to one day a year, could be of great assistance to our efforts! If you are interested in becoming a Helper, either by donating and/or volunteering, please contact us!
PEDIATRIC SPAY/NEUTER
There are at least 11 national organizations which endorse sterilization surgery
for all kittens 8 weeks and older, prior to their adoption. Below are the links
to 10 national organizations' specific WebPages on this topic, by its various
names: Pediatric Spay/Neuter, Juvenile Spay/Neuter, Pre-Adoption Sterilization,
Early Neutering, and Prepuberal Gonadectomy. (Also, The American Kennel Club has
endorsed this protocol in a video produced by the American Humane Association,
although they do not have a webpage endorsement.)
