All About Us

?????Takadence Acres has been in operation for approx. 3 years we are located on 15 peaceful acres. We have a (501)(c)(3)non-profit status with the IRS. We operate strictly as a non- profit organization. We take in neglected/abused/homeless animals. We are not here for your unwanted pets. We currently rescue and adopt dogs ,horses, goats, etc. We at this time are not set up to take household cats as we have no housing for them, but if you need some help finding a place for your cat we can certianly try our best to help direct you in the right direction. We currently have 9 horses. We are in the process of finishing our stalls in our barn and have some room as pasture horses with a run in shelter. We should be done soon with the stalls and everyone will have a stall of their own . Since we are fairly new in the rescue business we are asking for all the help we can get. So far we have not recieved any grants, although we have applied for them. We currently hold a monthly animal adoption fair at Concord Pet In Rehoboth Beach Delaware , also every 2nd Saturday of every month at Animal Health Sales in Selbyville Delaware. As of Feb2006, we have been chosen to be a Pro-Plan Rally to Rescue Ambassador. Please view the site to learn all about the Rally to Rescue Program and how the program helps the animal rescue's in their efforts to save the homeless/neglaeced and abused animals. www.rallytorescue.org These adoption events are held to help place the animals in a good home and to raise funds to keep the rescue going. You can review our event calender to see a list of our events We usually have crafts for the children to make, have a small petting zoo with baby goats and a sheep, horse rides weather permitting, and a moon bounce for the children to play in. All this is offered for a small donation to help keep the rescue in operation. we also have some assorted crafts to purchase. It takes alot to keep these animals healthy. We also need volunteers to help walk dogs, exercise them, feed , bath and just help with some general care. Maybe help with transporting to the vets office for their check ups and shots. Things that we need here at the rescue are: fencing supplies, bedding supplies, dog houses, clean fill dirt for our horse pastures, funding for vet care, etc. We would apprieciate any donations, in any form. We currently have 10 outdoor dog pens and due to the amount of calls each day for stray or abused animals we will need many more, so please help us, we could use your support. . Our critters need your support. We also have a T-Shirt fundraiser going to raise money for the rescue. Any business that donates a minium of $25.00 as a sponsor of the rescue will get their business name printed on the back of the T-shirt as one of our sponsors of the rescue and is also eligble for a free T-shirt. We are asking anyone who would like to sponsor us please send your business name and a check made out to Takadence Acres Animal Rescue, Inc. for whatever the amount is you would like to sponsor for and kindly send it in c/o Concord Pet Highway One Rehoboth Beach De. 19971. For those of you that would just like to donate something to the rescue you can also send it to Concord Pet, or send to Best Equipment highway one Lewes, De.19958. Both of these stores are our biggest supporters and will accept any cash donations over the phone to credit it to our account or if you would like to drop food or supplies off for us they will be glad to hold them for us. We also have a great deal of vet expenses, if you would like to help out with a small donation for our vet care you can contact Four Paws Animal Hospital in Seaford De. 302-629-7297, they will gladly accept a donation credited to our account . Any help we can recieve from the public is greatly appreciated. We will not be able to stay in operation if we do not get the help of the community. We recently have had a family member pass away of terminal cancer and we have lost a great deal of help since he has passes on. He was a great asset to the rescue and we miss him very much. We have also lost the income he use to contribute to the rescue, so if we don't raise enough money to keep the animals safe , warm, and healthy we will be forced to close our doors. We currently have 4 dogs up for adoption (01-27-09) 1 horse, We also have animals here that will always be here due to abuse in the past and will never be adoptable so they will forever need caring for. If you would like to sponsor an animal that can never leave the rescue we would appreciate it. We will update you on their care and progress, send you pictures , and if you live close enough to the rescue you can even participate in their care. Please contact us by e-mail if you are interested in sponsoring an animal. Currently these are soom of the things that we need to keep us giong ; fencing supplies any type, contractors to donate the backhoe or dozers to clear the land so we can utilize the 16 acres we have and need cleared, an indoor facility to keep the animals warm in winter weather and cool in hot climate( sheds or out buildings donated), general supplies such as flea/tick preventetive, collars cat/dog, horse halters, lead lines, leashes, buckets, bowls, horse feed(10% reliance sweet feed) cat/dog food. We currently are in desparate need of heavy tarps for the pens as we only have outdoor facilities for the animals. Tin for the roofs of our pens. Horses hoofs get clipped every 6-8 weeks at $35.00 /horse and we have 9, well 8 and 1 donkey. We have quite a few older dogs and they require meds daily and are given canned food to take their meds also it's given just to maintain their weight. We are also recycling allumium cans only for the animals. How it works is we supply you with a barrel to put the cans in and when its full we will pick it up uf you call us and give us a few days to pick up and bring you an empty one. All the money collected helps the critters. E-mail us if you would like to have a barrel and we will be glad to drop one off, or call 302-258-7466 and leave a message. Here at Takadence Acres we are family owned and operated and all have full time jobs besides taking care of the critters so please be patient with us if you call and do not get an immediate response, we will get back with you . Some of us in the family work night shift and sleep during the day. Also , this is our home so please , if you want to visit our rescue please call for an appointment we will be glad to show you around. The animals that currently reside at the rescue is as follows; 8 horses,1 donkey,10 dogs, 6 outdoor cats/approx.20 ferral cats,2sons,1wife,2daughters,2grandchildren,and many more that spend time helping out. I would like to ad and celebrate the news with all of you animal lovers, our rescue just became an ambassador for the Rally To Rescue program by pro-plan dog foods. Please feel free to visit their site @ www.rallytorescue.org to read all about their efforts to help the animals. Also we have a new fundraiser program going on to promote our rescue, it is calld Grounds for Cause. For those of you who have already donated time or money to our rescue we sincerely thank you.

Thanks again from all of the critters. Adopting A Pet

?????Everyone needs a friend. Adopting a cat, dog, or any animal fills that void in your life. Your animal will always be your true friend no matter what. They will always be there for you. A little love in the eyes of an animal goes a long way. You will have a life long buddy. So come out and see us , give an animal a second chance.

Adoption Procedure

?????Our adoption procedure is a few simple forms to fill out. We need to know a little bit about you, and your surroundings. We must know that the animal you are interested in fits your needs as well as the animal's needs. We need to know that both owner and dog will be happy. We will not adopt an animal out to someone who intends to breed the dog. We will not adopt to a person who rents unless written ok from their landlord. We will not adopt to anyone under the age of 18 without consent from the parents. We try to spay/neuter before they leave the rescue but if we don't have the funds sometimes it's difficult to do that. We will work with you and supply you with a application to have the animal spay/neutered at a very low cost through the Lower Delaware Therapy Dogs program. Call to set up an appointment to come visit us.

Our Location

?????We are located in Harbeson, De. 19951 (302)684-0151

Pet Of The Month

?????Our pet of the month is approx.4 yrs old . We believe that he is a St. Bernard/Setter mix. He was dumped off in our driveway approx. 1 month ago with what we believe were his siblings or companions from the same family. There was 3 of them, all with mane coats with next to no hair, skin scabbed up all over their body, nails about 3 inches long, cuts and sores all over their body, ears abcessed, mites, and lord knows what else. Not knowing whether these dogs were from a wild pack we called the SPCA. They came out and we got 2 of them in the truck, they turned out to be very friendly but a sad site and they were taken to the SPCA'S facility. Fortunately for the 3rd dog he wasn't around when they came and he just wandered the rescues property for days. We made a bed in the tool shed with a half a barrel and straw and put food and water down and after 1 week he waltzed onto my back porch and we cleaned him up and he now lives indoors with the rest of our household pets. Unfortunately for him he has aquired Lymes disease and he has really bad heartworm. We are currently treating him for the Lymes and when he gets strong enough we will be giving him the heartworm treatment which can possibly kill him if he is not strong enough to withstand the treatment. We named him Yeller Dog cause he looks like Old Yeller. He is so much happier since he found our rescue and we treated him with not only medicine but most of all the love he had lost by whoever was creul enough to dump him. If anyone should recognize this dog please contact us your information leading us to the original owners will remain confidential. 302-684-0151 or Rwendy302@aol.com . This dog was traveling and dumped off with 2 others 1 a med black shep faced dag with ears that stood up straight, and the2nd one was a rottie hound mix with a cpopped tail, both very friendly but very scared, very rough looking. Please help us find these people, these animals did not deserve that. I am posting Yeller on my web site under pets for adoption although he is far from ready to be adopted yet he is too sick. If anyone would like to donate money for his vet care please call Four Paws In Seaford, De. 302-629-7297 and credit our account with your donation for the Yeller fund. Please take a look at him and consider donating to help him pull through this treatment. Thank you for your support.
