Who We Are

The Delaware Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is a private non-profit organization incorporated in 1873. The Delaware SPCA has contracts with the City of Wilmington to enforce dog control laws and we enforce the animal cruelty statutes under our charter. A full range of animal health, rescue, education and adoption services are available to Delaware residents.

Adopting a friend

Fees for dog and cat adoptions are $100.00. This fee includes mandatory spay/neuter, distemper/parvo inoculation, microchipping and a free vet exam. We also offer microchipping for non-shelter animals for a $25.00 fee. All adoptions are at the discretion of the Delaware SPCA, and approval of a pre-adoption application. Adoptions are restricted to Delaware residents with the exception of neutered animals.

Becoming a Member

Membership is open to all persons who are interested in the aims and objectives of the Society, and who shall automatically become members upon payment of the annual dues of $20.00. All contributions are tax deductible and include the quarterly newsletter.
