Notices

Chain-link fence repair is something our shelter desperately needs! There is an outside, fenced-in area that we use to let our dogs run and play freely in, but unfortunately, they have figured out a way to dig under and escape! Sadly, we now keep the dogs inside their indoor kennels 24/7 because it is too dangerous for them to go outside. Also, some of our indoor kennels are in need of repair as well, so if you have the skills and resources and want to help, please let us know!

We are always in need of donations to make our resident cats' and dogs' lives a little happier and more comfortable while they're with us. If you would like to help our little organization, donations of cat and dog food, cat and dog toys, old blankets and towels, cleaning supplies, etc., are greatly needed. As always, your donations are tax-deductible and we thank you (and so do our furry, four-legged residents) for anything you can offer.

News

Pepper and Salty, our Llasa Apso mixes that were found together, went home together with a wonderful new family in Maryland!

Butterscotch, our young Yellow Lab mix, went home with his new owner a few weeks ago.

Bear, our senior Golden Retriever mix has a new family! Bear was left behind at our shelter along with a cat and a hand-written note which said his owner had gotten sick and was no longer able to care for them. That was six months ago...

Not many people would consider an 11-year-old dog as a new pet for their family, but thanks to Petfinder's service and a wonderful family in Wilmington, Bear was adopted only a week after he was listed!

Adopting a Friend

If you see a pet that you are interested in, please contact us. We will mail you a contract, and then we'll set up a date and time for you to come visit with the animal. We will then send the animal home with you for the weekend to see if this pet is a good match for both you and your chosen companion, and to see how well it will fit into your life.

Adoption fees are $30 for dogs and puppies, $20 for adult cats and $10 for kittens.

Requirements for New Owners:
If you are serious about adopting your chosen pet, Delaware Animal Aid has a few requirements that you need to follow:

For your protection as well as the animal's, all pets will have been spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
