The Stratford Cat Project

Our Pet List

I've found that the way a person feels about cats-and the way they feel about him or her in return-is usually an excellent gauge by which to measure a person's character. P.C. Cast

Featured Pet of the Month:

Zane is a very handsome orange and white male. He is approximately 2 years old. Zane has been a stray for most of his life but now enjoys being an indoor, spoiled kitty. He would do best as the only pet in the home as he seems nervous around other cats. Zane loves people and will make a great lap cat for someone who only wants one cat. Do you or someone you know have room in your heart and home to give this handsome guy a home to call his own? For more information, Stratford Cat Project at 203-375-7009.

Winkin's Spot - Volunteers Needed for Care of Kittens

We know you love cats! Do you have free time? Cannot foster but know you want to help in some way? With our numbers of kitties we are currently trying to help being so high, 92, we desperately need volunteers to help at our adoption center (Baldwins Corner) at H3 and at our largest foster home in Stratford (run by Karin). We need your help with feeding the kitties, cleaning litter boxes and cages, and with socializing, which means lots of therapeutic play time for you and kitty. If you can help us and would like to be involved in the hands-on care of our foster kitties, please contact Karin at email kwestbrook@snet.net or text at 203-455-7564.

Our Wish List

URGENT: We currently have 92 cats in our foster home program. We are in need of Friskies canned and dry food, wet wipes, large black garbage bags and paper towels. If you can make a donation, please call us at 203-375-7009. Donations can also be dropped off at 85 Champion Terrace in Stratford (on back patio, weather permitting).

† The continued support of our volunteers, adopters, and donors has enabled SCP to help so many cats and kittens. All of us working together can make such a difference in their feline lives. A special thank you is extended to all our volunteers who continue to donate their time for our fundraising events. Lots of kitty hugs to our foster homes for providing shelter and love to our cats until they find their forever homes and a big thank you to everyone that has donated money, cat supplies and helped rescue cats. Most of all, thanks to all our adopters for providing loving homes for our feline friends. Without the support of all of YOU, we could not help so many kitties.

CAT TIPS: A Blood Test Can Detect Illness Early

Many vets recommend that even healthy senior cats have a periodic blood test. Cats rarely show symptoms of problems like renal failure until their kidney function is almost gone, but if the signs of kidney failure are detected early, the illness can be treated early. Although there's no cure for most elder kitty illnesses, if you're able to find the problem before it shows, you can improve your cat's quality of life in the long term.

WHO WE ARE

Stratford Cat Project, Inc. (SCP) is a federally recognized, non-profit organization. We are a group of residents concerned about the feral cat population and dedicated to rescuing the homeless and abandoned cats of Stratford. SCP is an all volunteer organization. We are not a shelter. All the cats that we help are fostered in our homes. We are presently operating solely on private donations and fund-raising. All proceeds and donations go directly to help Stratford cats.

VOLUNTEERS!

Volunteers Needed: Love cats? Have free time? Want to help? The Stratford Cat Project is always in need of volunteers. Fostering, helping out at fundraising events and adoptions and soliciting donations are just some of the ways you can participate. Please call us at 203-375-7009 if you are interested in helping our feline friends.

FOSTER HOMES

There is so much joy in knowing you have helped us save some kittens or adult cats in need as you help them get ready for their forever home. We furnish all supplies needed to care for our cats/kittens and provide a support system. Our adoptable kitties numbers are always growing, and it is sometimes necessary to turn strays away as our current foster homes become overcrowded. Please, if you can help, or if you know someone who can help, call 375-7009 today.

Our Wish List

URGENT: We presently have 92 cats that we are housing. We are always in need of food and litter. While our foster home number is lower we also have a food bank that provides food to families that cannot afford to feed their pets and helps caretakers of feral cat colonies. If you can make a donation, please call us at (203) 375-7009. Also, donations can be dropped off at 85 Champion Terrace, Stratford (on back patio) weather permitting.
Another way you can help Ė Please save all your cat food and litter coupons for us. Also, we save the PAW Points from Fresh Step Litter and redeem for coupons for free litter. Coupons and PAW Points can be mailed to: Stratford Cat Project, P.O. Box 1261, Stratford, 06615 or can be dropped off at any of our events.
Supply Donations Always Needed: We are in need of Friskies canned and dry food, wet wipes, trash bags 4, 8 and 13 gallons size, cat condos, litter, stamps, Walmart gift cards, bleach, scratching posts, rugs for cages, small plastic bags and paper towels.

SPONSORS

Want to help but don't have time to volunteer or foster? How about sponsoring a cat? A sponsor is someone who is willing to make a monthly donation for the care of one of our long term feline friends. As we all know, kittens are easy to find homes for. Sometimes it takes much longer to find a home for the adult ones. A sponsor will receive a picture of the cat they sponsor and are always welcome to visit. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please call Karin at 375-7009.

ADOPTING A FRIEND

We do require that an adoption application and agreement be filled out. There is an adoption fee of $125.00 per cat/kitten. All of our cats are tested, wormed and have received their age appropriate shots. All cats/kittens will be spayed and neutered before adoption.
