The Stratford Cat Project

Our Pet List

If there were to be a universal sound depicting peace, I would surely vote for the purr. ~Barbara L. Diamond

Featured Pets of the Month:

is a gorgeous long-haired, dilute calico female. She is approximately 10 years old and is de-clawed. Honey came to us after her owner who originally rescued her passed away. Honey was in poor physical shape when rescued and with a lot of love and care was nursed back to good health. She is very outgoing and loving with people and would make a wonderful companion. Honey can be talkative and likes to follow her foster caregiver around. As she is long-haired, she will require regular grooming. The perfect home for Honey will be one with lots of attention where she can sit with you and be adored. Honey can be placed by herself or in a home with another calm, adult cat. Have room in your heart and home for this precious lady? Call 375-7009 today.

Baldwin's Corner

2008 has been a year of struggle for many. Foreclosure rates are at their all time high. Large numbers of cats and dogs are being abandoned by their owners who are desperate just to survive. The burden of this influx of abandoned pets has been felt by all rescue organizations and shelters throughout the U.S. While heartbreaking, thankfully there are groups like ours that can help. While we all prepare for the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, let’s remember these poor animals that have been abandoned in desperation. Whether it be large or small we all can make a difference in their lives, one cat at a time. Thanks to all of you (donors, members, and volunteers) that continue to support our project and its mission. Without you, we would not be able to help the number of cats that we have. Baldwin, Winkin and all of us at SCP wish you and your family a Joyous Holiday Season and a Happy Healthy New Year!!

WHO WE ARE

Stratford Cat Project, Inc. (SCP) is a federally recognized, non-profit organization. We are a group of residents concerned about the feral cat population and dedicated to rescuing the homeless and abandoned cats of Stratford. SCP is an all volunteer organization. We are not a shelter. All the cats that we help are fostered in our homes. We are presently operating solely on private donations and fund-raising. All proceeds and donations go directly to help Stratford cats.

OUR STATISTICS

We would like to take this opportunity to update you on the efforts and success our project has accomplished since we were founded in 2001. Since our inception in 2001, The Stratford Cat Project has rescued over1,400 cats and kittens. It's thanks to all of YOU, our adopters, donors, sponsors, volunteers and supporters that we can continue to help as many feline friends. We thank you, the cats thank you and all the adopters whose lives have been enriched by having that special companion in their homes thank you as well. Let's all keep up the good work!

VOLUNTEERS!

We are always in need of volunteers to help us at our monthly activities to attend, help set up, and work the adoptions, fund-raisers, special events etc. Anyone interested in volunteering, please contact Karin at 203-375-7009.

FOSTER HOMES

There is so much joy in knowing you’ve helped us save some kittens or adult cats in need as you help them get ready for their forever home. We furnish all supplies needed to care for our cats/kittens and provide a support system. Our adoptable kitties numbers are always growing, and it is sometimes necessary to turn strays away as our current foster homes become overcrowded. Please, if you can help,or if you know someone who can help, call 375-7009 today.

Our Wish List

We currently have 77+ adult cats and kittens being fostered in the project. Since SCP is a non-profit organization, we run on donations. Our supply list is ongoing. Items such as cat food – dry and canned, cat toys, Flea treatment, litter-scoopable and clay, crates (folding), rugs (for cages), stamps, trash bags – 33 gallon heavy duty, PETCO gift cards, plastic bags, scratching posts, wet wipes, bleach and paper towels. Again, thanks to all of you who help us help these cats and kittens by your donations. Without you we would never be able to do it. If you would like to contribute, please call 375-7009.

SPONSORS

Want to help but don't have time to volunteer or foster? How about sponsoring a cat? A sponsor is someone who is willing to make a monthly donation for the care of one of our long term feline friends. As we all know, kittens are easy to find homes for. Sometimes it takes much longer to find a home for the adult ones. A sponsor will receive a picture of the cat they sponsor and are always welcome to visit. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please call Karin at 375-7009.

ADOPTING A FRIEND

We do require that an adoption application and agreement be filled out. There is a suggested adoption donation of $100.00. All of our cats are tested, wormed and have received their age appropriate shots. All cats that are old enough are neutered/spayed before adoption. We do encourage people to neuter/spay their adopted kittens through our project. Our suggested adoption donation covers the spay/neuter of our kittens and must be done by our local vets. Subsequently, we must restrict the adoption of our kittens to our local area (Fairfield, Stratford, Milford, Shelton, Trumbull and Bridgeport).
