Our Pet List

"If there is one spot of sun spilling onto the floor, a cat will find it and soak it up.“ - Joan Asper McIntosh

Featured Pet of the Month:

Dude is a very handsome beige male and is approximately 2 to 3 years old. Dude was found in a feral colony and was starving and extremely thin. The caretaker of the colony got him neutered and was originally going to put him back outside. However, as Dude is very friendly, the caretaker contacted us to see if we would take him. We are so glad we did! He is an absolute love bug. Dude is very affectionate and would be happy if you were to pet him all day long. He also likes to talk. He tolerates other cats but would prefer to be your main man. The perfect home for him will be one where he will get a lot of attention. Do you or someone you know have room in your heart and home for this special guy? For more information, call (203) 375-7009.

Winkin's Spot - Upcoming Fundraisers

We will be holding our Annual Riley's 2nd Chance Fundraiser at Uno's Chicago Grill located at 1061 Boston Post Road, Milford on Thursday, April 24th. Please visit Uno’s for lunch, dinner, drinks or takeout and a portion of your total check will be donated to the fund. Coupons must be presented in order for SCP to receive the donation and can be obtained by calling 203-375-7009, by emailing us at or can be picked up at any of our events. The proceeds of this fundraiser will go to help Linus who came to SCP after being found in Bridgeport with some kind of trauma to his head and eye. He needs to have surgery to repair the missing part of his eyelid. This is a complex surgery and success probability is extremely high. New Haven Central Hospital for Veterinary Care will be performing the surgery which will cost SCP about $1,500. Linus is a wonderful cat and we are committed to giving him the care he needs. We are looking for donations to help cover the costs of this surgery. Please help us by visiting Uno on the 24th. With your help, we can get Linus the medical attention he so desperately needs and help him find his caring, forever home.

Another of our annual fundraisers is our spring tag sale! These sales help us raise much needed funds for cat food, supplies, vet bills, etc. Plus you can find some fantastic bargains at our tag sales. This year’s spring sale will be held on Saturday, May 10th. We will be accepting donations after April 15th. Please call 203-375-7009 for further information about drop-off locations. Time to do your spring cleaning and donate items to SCP to help the kitties!

The continued support of our volunteers, adopters, and donors has enabled SCP to help so many cats and kittens. All of us working together can make such a difference in their feline lives. A special thank you is extended to all our volunteers who continue to donate their time for our fundraising events. Lots of kitty hugs to our foster homes for providing shelter and love to our cats until they find their forever homes and a big thank you to everyone that has donated money, cat supplies and helped rescue cats. Most of all, thanks to all our adopters for providing loving homes for our feline friends. Without the support of all of YOU, we could not help so many kitties.

CAT TIPS: Some Cats Don't Purr---Or Do They?

There are all kinds of purrs. Some cats have "motors" you can hear from several feet away, while some purr so quietly as to be inaudible to humans. And believe it or not, there are cats who don't purr at all. Sometimes the only way you can tell is to hold your finger over your cat's throat to see if there's a vibration. If you have a non-purring cat, that doesn't mean he's unhappy or doesn't love you. He may just choose to express his love in other ways. A smile or a snuggle on your lap is just as much a gesture of contentment as a purr.

Stratford Cat Project, Inc. (SCP) is a federally recognized, non-profit organization. We are a group of residents concerned about the feral cat population and dedicated to rescuing the homeless and abandoned cats of Stratford. SCP is an all volunteer organization. We are not a shelter. All the cats that we help are fostered in our homes. We are presently operating solely on private donations and fund-raising. All proceeds and donations go directly to help Stratford cats.

Volunteers Needed: Love cats? Have free time? Want to help? The Stratford Cat Project is always in need of volunteers. Fostering, helping out at fundraising events and adoptions and soliciting donations are just some of the ways you can participate. Please call us at 203-375-7009 if you are interested in helping our feline friends.

There is so much joy in knowing you have helped us save some kittens or adult cats in need as you help them get ready for their forever home. We furnish all supplies needed to care for our cats/kittens and provide a support system. Our adoptable kitties numbers are always growing, and it is sometimes necessary to turn strays away as our current foster homes become overcrowded. Please, if you can help, or if you know someone who can help, call 375-7009 today.

Our Wish List

URGENT: We presently have 75 cats that we are housing. We are always in need of food and litter. While our foster home number is lower we also have a food bank that provides food to families that cannot afford to feed their pets and helps caretakers of feral cat colonies. If you can make a donation, please call us at (203) 375-7009. Also, donations can be dropped off at 85 Champion Terrace, Stratford (on back patio) weather permitting.
Another way you can help – Please save all your cat food and litter coupons for us. Also, we save the PAW Points from Fresh Step Litter and redeem for coupons for free litter. Coupons and PAW Points can be mailed to: Stratford Cat Project, P.O. Box 1261, Stratford, 06615 or can be dropped off at any of our events.
Supply Donations Always Needed: We are in need of Friskies canned and dry food, wet wipes, trash bags 4, 8 and 13 gallons size, cat condos, litter, stamps, Walmart gift cards, bleach, scratching posts, rugs for cages, small plastic bags and paper towels.

Want to help but don't have time to volunteer or foster? How about sponsoring a cat? A sponsor is someone who is willing to make a monthly donation for the care of one of our long term feline friends. As we all know, kittens are easy to find homes for. Sometimes it takes much longer to find a home for the adult ones. A sponsor will receive a picture of the cat they sponsor and are always welcome to visit. If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, please call Karin at 375-7009.

We do require that an adoption application and agreement be filled out. There is an adoption fee of $125.00 per cat/kitten. All of our cats are tested, wormed and have received their age appropriate shots. All cats/kittens will be spayed and neutered before adoption.

If you are interested in adopting a cat or a kitten or if you would like to know more about our organization please contact us at the e-mail below.
