The Connecticut Underhound Railroad was formed in the summer of 2009 to rescue dogs from kill shelters in Connecticut, tend to their medical needs, and provide foster homes and transportation on their journey to their forever homes. We do not have a facillity that you can come meet our dogs at, but rather a network of fosters throughout New England. if you are interested in one of our pups, please contact the person listed in their description, we would LOVE to set up a meeting!
You can find out more about the CT Underhound Railroad at our website.
Our volunteers rescue, transport, and attend to the medical needs of the dogs that they are fostering. To help cover these expenses, we rely on donations as well as on people adopting a friend to pay an adoption fee. This fee varies depending on the amount of expenses that have been incurred rescuing the dog, as well as what we have received for donations.
We are very concerned that our dogs find the best possible forever home, so we have an adoption application we ask potential adopters to fill out and we then set up interviews and home visits.
We work as an online organization with our dogs staying at foster homes across New England. If you wish to visit one of the dogs, send us an email and we will arrange a time.
