News

AAWL is participating in PETCO adoption events. Please come out to see our kittens looking for a fur-ever home. We would like to thank Petco for their support of our organization.
Call Linda Karalus at (860) 518-6579 for more information on the event location(s) and adoption pre-screening.

Who We Are

AAWL is a no-kill organization located in New Britain, CT. While we are not a shelter facility, we are presently feeding over 400 homeless cats in the New Britain and the Greater Hartford area and focus on trapping/spaying/neutering (TNR). Adoptable cats on our site are being fostered by AAWL volunteers.

Adopting a friend

We are always committed to placing cats and kittens in homes compatible with your and the animal’s needs.
Please contact Linda Karalus for screening process in advance of adoption events or inquiries. About a week after adoption, a volunteer will contact you to make sure that you and the cat/kitten are getting along well.
Please note:
* We screen prospective adopters before animals are place in new homes.
* We ask that people who rent show proof that animals are allowed.
* We strongly advise that animals to be kept indoors for their own safety.
* We discourage declawing (and can advise on more humane alternatives).
* We do not adopt small kittens to families with young children (<5 yrs of age).
Standard Adoption Fee:
$120-150 for kittens/cats >8wks includes spay/neuter.
All cats and kittens are vaccinated, tested for FeLV/FIV, treated for fleas and ear mites and litter-box trained prior to adoption. All young/adult cats over age of 8 wks. are spayed/neutered prior to adoption.
Adoption fees help to offset rescue and medical expenses but rarely exceed them. Additional donations are always welcome and appreciated to offset costs of caring for the over 400 homeless cats in our area. .
