Our Adoptable Pet List

LIV & GIGI - PITTER PATTER PETS OF THE MONTH

Who We Are - Pitter Patter Feline Rescue, Inc. is a new, still very small, organization with big hopes and a great amount of passion. Our goal eventually is to help as many kittens/cats as we can. There is a serious problem with cats that are disposed of like "garbage" and it should not be this way. Cats are not wildlife and they do not belong outside. The most important issue is the spaying and neutering of cats. Many people adopt a kitten and after a small amount of time goes by, the kitten gets rambunctious and people start putting them outside without being spayed or neutered. Eventually, they are forgotten about and, hence, the overpopulation begins. One female can have up to three (3) litters of kittens in a year and 4-6 kittens per litter. You do the math. These kittens/cats suffer immensely living outside. The females fight for food to feed their offspring. Males fight ferociously for territory and a female that is in heat. They die unnecessarily from freezing to death, starving to death and even simple eye infections that can make them blind; however, these can be treated with a simple antibiotic so they are no longer prime targets for prey such as cars, coyote, hawks etc. Simple upper respiratory infections turn into pneumonia and they can die when, once again, a simple antibiotic can cure this condition. Wounds, bites, and other bodily sores become infected and cause death when left untreated. Is it really necessary for them to live like this? People need to spay and neuter their cats. While economic times are difficult for many families, there are places that will help with low cost spaying and neutering. Contact your local shelter or any rescue group and someone can guide you. The most important thing is that people and the community need to understand that no single rescue group can solve this problem alone. There must be significant cooperative efforts between individuals and their community with all rescue organizations. Rescue groups are non-profit and depend solely upon donations and efforts of volunteer services. Please contribute to your organization of choice and help us all with this never-ending problem.
