Finding Neemo Herding Breed Rescue is run by a few dedicated individuals who are concerned about the millions of homeless dogs being euthanized every year.
We are dedicated to doing our part to stop pet overpopulation by finding homes for animals in need.
In particular, FNHBR is concerned for the herding breeds in shelters, both purebred and mixed.
Shelters often present a very stressful atmosphere for any dog, and the sensitivity of most herding breeds tend to drive them to become "kennel crazy" when they are in a shelter for a long period of time.
Because of this, we are an all foster home rescue- our dogs, who are often pulled from rural high-kill shelters, live in a foster home until they are ready for their new life.
All animals listed on our site are available for adoption and can be seen by appointment.
We do require that you have an approved adoption application with us before you come to meet any of our available pets.
Our dogs are not adopted out on a first-come first-serve basis!
Instead, we are looking for what we believe will be the best for both dog and family.
Few things are more stressful than owning an underexercised, reactive, fearful, and undersocialized herding dog! It is our job to prevent any of these dogs from ever seeing the inside of a shelter again!
We are an all volunteer rescue!
That means that we are not, in any way, making a profit off the animals in our care.
Instead, we are using our time and resources to help animals in need. Please keep this in mind when it takes one of us more than a day to respond to your inquiry about an animal!
If you do not receive a response after two days, feel free to contact us again. We recieve many emails and phone calls daily, and sometimes we miss one.
Adoptions
ALL of our adoption fees help us pay for vet bills and enable us to rescue more dogs!
If you are interested in adopting one of the dogs listed on our website, please fill out an application and email it to doganddisc@comcast.net.
All of our dogs are fed only the best brands of grain-free, high protein food. Most dogs are on a mix of raw diet and Wellness Core or Orijen Formulas. If you plan to adopt from us, please be aware that changing a dog's diet, especially upon entering a new home, can be stressful. We recommend their food stay consistant for at least the first few weeks.
The brands of food we choose to feed have shown a great improvement in the overall health of our dogs. It is for this reason that we cannot recommend any brand of dog food containing corn. Though we highly recommend the grain free and raw diets, we understand that not all foods work for everyone and therefore accept high quality grains as part of a dog's diet when necessary.
Please contact us by email BEFORE calling. If we do not respond within twenty-four hours of sending your email, you are entitled to call. Calling will not speed up the application process. We will not place a dog with you if you have not filled out an adoption application! We do not have a facility for you to visit, as we operate completely out of foster homes- you will not be able to meet any of our animals the same day you fill out the adoption application!
