EAST HAVEN ANIMAL SHELTER JOINS BIKERS AGAINST ANIMAL CRUELTY IN A MOTORCYCLE RALLY & ADOPTION EVENT!!


The East Haven Animal Shelter will be having an adoption event at the East Hartford Knights of Columbus from 1-6pm on Saturday, July 18th. The event will also include a Motorcycle Rally & Rodeo, plenty of good food, live entertainment & local vendors. It will be a fun day for adults & children, even if you are unable to adopt. EAST HAVEN ANIMAL SHELTER WINS 1ST PLACE!!


The East Haven Animal Shelter is the very proud 1st place winner of the recent first inaugural 'Willy Award'. This award was the result of the many generous contributions from all exhibitors and attendees who participated in the Durham Pet Fair held this past May 17th at the Durham Veterinary Hospital. The 1st place prize was a check for $2500 which will go directly into our Medical Fund which is set aside to help those animals who need extra special medical care. Luigi(pictured above) is a perfect example as he needed surgery to remove a tumor. Read more about Luigi in his bio.... PLEASE SUPPORT 'HELP WILLY'S FRIENDS' BY DONATING TO THEIR CAUSE!


The East Haven Animal Shelter is having a 'Buy-a-Brick' fundraiser. Bricks are being sold for $50 each. Each brick will be engraved with your pet's or family's information. The bricks will be used as our new sidewalks and entrance walkway. We hope this fundraiser will brighten the shelter grounds and is a nice way to honor our loved ones. ~*~For those of you East Haven Residents who are struggling to afford food for your beloved pets the shelter does have both dog & cat food available free of charge to those who need it most. Save Smokey!!


Smokey is about 6 months old now. He is the sweetest, most loveable boy! He knows "sit". Smokey will be completely devoted to his new family. He is playful but calms down nicely and would be a good cuddle-bug! Please don't let him spend his puppyhood in a kennel.

We are completely full with wonderful cats & kittens!!


The shelter is currently caring for many felines of all shapes & sizes. All of them are sweet as can be!! It is urgent that they are adopted as quickly as possible.

Who We Are

The East Haven Animal Shelter is a municipal shelter serving the town of East Haven, CT. We are committed to helping all animals that come into our care, and adopting them out to loving homes. Unfortunately, we are not a no-kill shelter, but with the help of our compassionate Animal Control Officers and our volunteer group, we do everything within our power to insure that an adoptable animal is not euthanized. If an animal is marked as URGENT, that means we will need to find a home for it soon.

Adopting a friend

To adopt from us, you will need to fill out an application, which will then have to be approved by our Animal Control Officers. If you already have another dog, we encourage you to bring it with you to meet the animal you are interested in. We have areas set up at the shelter to introduce dogs and see how they get along together.

Please note, animals are not adopted on a first come, first serve basis. We need to make sure it will be the best match for both you and the animal.

Donations

Donations are always accepted and very much appreciated. We can always use the following items: Dog and cat food, cat litter, old blankets and towels, cleaning supplies, and cat toys. We also are very happy to accept cash donations, which all goes towards medical expenses for the animals in our care.

Directions

From 91: Take I-91 South all the way to the merge with I-95 North (it is a left lane exit). Take I-95 North all the way to the merge, and you will end up on the "Q" bridge. You'll want to make your way into the right hand lane.

Take Exit 51 (Frontage Rd); the right lane of the highway turns into the exit (you'll see a Chili's and TJ Maxx on your right).

Go down 2 lights and at the second light take a right onto Hemingway Ave (Stop & Shop will be on the right).

Go down 4 lights and at the 4th light take a right onto Silver Sands Rd (you will see a stone monument for the East Haven Industrial Park).

Take your first right onto Commerce St (you will see a garden center and another stone monument on the right). We are the second building on the left, with a wire fence around it.
