Who We Are
We are NOT a shelter.
Yesterdays Kittens, Inc is a small group of FOSTER homes. We have NO shelter building. We take a VERY limited number of surrendered cats and kittens depending on the available space in our foster homes. The animals that come to us mix freely with our own pets, dogs included. Most come to us with critical health or behavioral issues related to the situations from which they were rescued.
YKI was formed to be a trap -neuter-return progarm for feral cat populations in the South and South Central areas aka the lower Connecticut River Valley. We provide shelter, medical care, and daily provisions for abandoned, abused, or otherwise unwanted cats and kittens. We do this by maintaining said shelter, providing medical care and services as needed, including - but not limited to - spaying, neutering, vaccinations, FIV and FeLV testing, and providing healthy food and fresh clean water in a healthy, safe environment. Also, to provide outreach services into the community, in order to locate appropriate adoptive homes for freindly cats and kittens or feral colony care takers for the feral cats and kittens upon their return to the habitate from which they came.
We HAVE received out 501(c)(3) status. That means ALL donations are tax deductible.

News
A while ago, I was asked to write something to alert potential adopters about the potential dangers of electrical cords. This request came after one of our placed kittens was accidentally electrocuted by chewing through the insulation on a cord. Young animals, like human babies, are curious and into EVERYTHING! Pet proofing your home is necessary to help prevent tragic accidents like the one that prompted this note. You will notice that I said "HELP PREVENT". Sometimes no matter what you do accidents happen, even to those of us experienced in animal care and pet-proofing our homes. You will also notice that this note is not specific to electrical cords, they are only one danger in and around a home. Some of the others include plants, cleaning solutions, antifreeze, pesticides, rat poison, toilet bowls or buckets of water, wood stoves, kitchen ranges, clothes dryers, dangling cords on blinds or roman shades, medications, drugs, parked cars (for indoor/outdoor or just outdoor kitties).
So PLEASE before you bring a pet home go through your house with a critical eye and make sure that there are no dangers to tempt a curious pet.
Help us become obsolete. PLEASE SPAY OR NEUTER YOUR PETS!
Yesterdays' Kittens, Inc has received 501(3)(c) status. We are officially non-profit. Any donation may be deducted from your taxes.
