*****PLEASE NOTE: Chinchilla Depot is now working with a dog rescue(Paws and Claws) located in Arkansas that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes abandoned and neglected puppies and dogs and finds them loving homes in the Northeast. I myself have three wonderful dogs from this group and cannot say enough about the professionalism and dedication that this group of volunteer rescuers have. The pups that are listed are located in Arkansas in foster homes waiting fto be transported to New England to approved forever homes. You will notice in the bio of each pup is a contact email, that is the foster Mom's email in Arkansas, and he or she can answers any additional questions you might have. Also if you are interested in adopting a pup, email her as well and she can send you an adoption application. Please make adoption your first choice when you are looking to add a new pet(dog or chinchilla) to your family.*****

Chinchilla's have a life expectency of 15 years,so these adults have alot of time left to amuse and amaze you.+++++
Who We Are
I operate a small rescue that started when I got my first chinchilla 7 years ago. I quickly realized that there was a need for rescue as I was contacted by several people looking to reliquish there pets. I then realized that couldn't keep them all and have been rehoming for about 5 years now. My chinchillas are socialized and handled as much as possible. They are fed Mazuri pellets and Oxbow timothy hay. There is a small adoption fee for each chinchilla,ranging from $50-$75. ****Please note that is rescue is run out of my home, so there are no specific hours that I am available, it is by appointment only.
Adopting a friend
Please do some research before you decide that a chinchilla is the pet for you. They are unique animals and can live up to 15 years, so it is a long term comitment. They do need regular baths in volcanic ash, so if you have a sensitive nose or and allergy, chinchillas might not be the animal for you. Chinchilla's do not have the ability to sweat, so there cage needs to be located in an area that gets no greater that 74 degrees. These Chinchilla's are rescues and there is little known about their background, so breeding these chins is not an option. They are for pet only. Please note that no chinchilla will be adopted to anyone under 21, without the parents consent and that the parent must complete the adoption application.
Come Visit Us!
We require an approved adoption application, before a visit can be made to see the chinchillas available for adoption. The rescue is run out of my home and is not open to the public. Emails and phone calls will try to be returned within 24 hours. . *** Please note that this rescue is run out of my home and that I work a full time job as well, so I may not return an phone call or email right away. I typically use the weekend for adopting out or relinquishing chinchillas.
