Vernon Animal Control is the animal shelter for the Town of Vernon, CT. We are a multi-purpose facility providing a temporary and safe shelter, primarily to homeless or abandoned dogs and cats of all ages.
Vernon Animal Control strives to place their animals in committed, loving and pet-responsible homes. Unfortunately, pet stays at the shelter are limited.
ADOPTING A SHELTER ANIMAL
$5 adoption fee for pets already altered or if adopted by a non-state resident. If the pet is not altered the cost is $50 which includes a State of CT Voucher that may be applied towards the costs of vaccinating and spaying or neutering your new companion through participating veterinarians. The ACOs want you to be happy with a pet from their shelter and will help you to ensure a successful match. We cannot guarantee the health or temperament of any animal adopted from our shelter. Many of these animals are strays so we have no history on them. An animal often does not show its true health or temperament until some time after placement in a home. Be patient with your new pet and set rules from the start. Take your new dog to classes and enjoy your new relationship!
